Hawler was an absolute Wow-ler. See what I did there.. erm anyway the review!
The service I received from the owner/ waitresses is by far the best service I have ever had.. as soon as I went in I was offered an absolutely fantastic lentil soup(free), soon after I got a salad along with some pickled vegetables (free yet again) and absolutely fantastic crunchy naan( Yes, free!) oh and also a scoop of humous and middle eastern raita..(Free again!) Like cmon?! Talk about hospitality!! I was absolutely gobsmacked at the sheer generosity!
In terms of mains we order Lamb Tikka with rice and lamb shank with rice and Okra sauce. Lamb tikka with rice. You just have to try it.. The tikka was cooked to perfection and the marination was something to cherish. The lamb shank.. this is what Hawler is most famous for.. erm it was O-K. For me its abit too bland. Cooking mind you is brilliant.. peeling of the bone, but for me just missed that oomph! Anyway thats just my Pakistani palette. Once we were done with the meal.. which only cost £36 with the tips.. we were given tea. Tea was £4.50, lol joke. That was free too. Blown away by the service, not too much by the food. If you’re around the area please visit this beautiful little restaurant! Its not too far away from edgware road...
Read moreHawler Iraqi Kebab Restaurant is a must-visit for anyone looking for authentic and delicious Iraqi cuisine in London. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm and friendly service that continued throughout my meal.
The menu features a wide selection of traditional Iraqi dishes, including kebabs, kubbas, and stews. I ordered the mixed kebab platter, which included lamb, chicken, and beef kebabs, and it was absolutely delicious. The meat was perfectly cooked and seasoned, and the accompanying sides of rice and salad were fresh and flavorful.
The ambiance at Hawler is cozy and inviting, with a comfortable seating area that makes for a great dining experience. The service was top-notch, with the staff providing helpful recommendations and attentive service throughout the meal.

Read moreWe are very disappointed with the food and the service. We ordered a family dinner platter or mixed grill where the chops were uncooked and chewy, and we had asked for a jug of water. We were told they don’t have or serve tap water jug anymore. We saw the other table where people speaking their language were getting special treatment, and they had water with ice cubes. When we asked how they had it, we were told they put in mineral water in the jug for them, when we asked why we were given a small water bottle the waiter replied that they do not have “family size” They wanted to buy us individual water bottles instead of a big bottle. We have also asked to refill the salad; guess what, after asking repeatedly we were told it was finished but for their special customers it was available. The waitress also told that under new management they do not give water free, but they do pick and choose who they want to serve correctly. My relatives went last time without their Kurdish husbands and they also received bad service until a point was made that the service is good when we are with our Kurdish husbands. Then they see you and equals. That was also...
