This was a first for me trying Pacha in Iraqi Kurdish restaurant Sarchnar on Edgware Road.
Pacha (sometimes called Khash) is a Middle Eastern traditional slow cooked dish made from sheep head, trotters & tripe. Offal heaven for those inclined! Yes tue brain š§ was included, it was soft & delicious. Everything was melt in your mouth tasty.
It came with rice & bread. I also ordered a Mosul Kubba as a starter.
I canāt sing enough praises for Sarchnar as a restaurant, it was super packed but they managed to seat me within 5 minutes. The staff were very polite & efficient. The Meal came with complementary lentil soup, salad, 2 dips, pickles, aubergine & bread and also tea and a piece of baklava at the end.
The lamb kuzi neck is also highly praised so I may try that or the dolma next time I visit.
Bear in mind if you go its cash only.
Update. 2nd visit that again was an amazing experience.
After being āgreatedā by a sour face owner of another restaurant close by who seeked to have little interest in my custom I dedicated to some back to Sarchanar for some excellent customer service and top quality food.
I had done 4 hours of climbing and 90 mins of cycling beforehand so I was mighty hungry. I ordered both the Dolma and Masgouf (Seabass).
Initially when it arrived I thought I may have ordered too much as the dolma had loads of Lamb with it too but I was able to finish both!
Both were delicious and rich in flavour.
The dolma was a mixture of peppers, cabbage and vine leaves with a big chunk of Lamb (neck?).
The Masgouf was delicate, light & tangy and expertly chargrilled. It was served with salad and bread.
The usual complimentary starters of soup, bread, dips & pickles were also provided. Tea to finish too.
Iāll certainly be back to try more on the menu when the experience...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWent to this restaurant the other night with 5 members of my family, we had a great time and will certainly be back.
Arivved at 10PM we were promptly sat down at a table and were instantly greeted with lentil soup, Iraqi bread, hummus, jajiki and pickles. This turned out all to be complimentary which is great
We all ordered something different for mains and as a family tucked in all round. What I can say is:
1- Iraqi lamb shish very succulent soft lamb that melts in the mouth.
2- Chicken shish really tasty with a zing of spice for spicy food lovers.
3- Lamb kofta- small cuts (slightly bigger than cube size) of lamb cooked over charcoal. The flavour and taste from this is truly immense. Certainly my favourite
4- Chicken kofta also cooked over charcoal. One of my hates is when restaurants burn the chicken however here it is cooked to perfection . The marinade they use is really tasty I think I could taste a hint of saffron.
5- Lamb kuzi which is a massive lamb shank with rice. The size of this meal can more than likely feed 2 people.
Some things to point out bread was replaced when finished. Each meal comes with several stews like okra and bean stew. Complimentary tea and sweets after meal. Portion sizes are a serious wow.
In terms of price each main meal we ordered was between £8.25 and £13.
A thoroughly good night...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI wanted my family to have the same good experience I had during a previous visit to London when I was traveling from the USA but I was astonished with the amount of in fairness I was faced with since I didnāt know anyone from the restaurant staff or owner. I. My wife and son showed up at the restaurant and we stood in line just like any other decent place we have been to waiting to be seated because the restaurant was packed. Then, the unexpected happened. A party of three girls were allowed in front of us and we thought they had reservations although I know it is a first come first were location. We talked to the staff member and he said we have to wait 3 minutes. A few minutes later a table was free and we were getting ready to be called in when the same staff member called two young men that were standing behind us to the table that seats four. When we confronted the staff member inside the restaurant in front of the customers, he started muttering and said 3 minutes again and gave us an excuse that those customers showed up before us but they did not. The owner/ manager witnessed the whole scene but did not even try to intervene or even offer an apology so we just left and found another place since we wasted a whole hour just waiting to be entered and served but we were never did. A WORD OF ADVICE, IF YOU DO NOT KNOW ANYONE OVER THERE THEN DO NOT GO THERE TO BE...
