⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The Best Fish & Chips Experience!
Without a doubt, Olley’s Fish & Chips in Herne Hill is by far the best fish & chips we’ve ever had. While carrying out some brickwork repairs behind the shop over a few weeks, we often had to ask Olley to move his car – and despite us being a bit of a nuisance, he was nothing but kind and accommodating. In fact, he even offered me and the team a free lunch from his shop – and what a meal it was!
The food was absolutely outstanding – perfectly cooked, fresh, and delicious. The staff were just as impressive: polite, friendly, and clearly loyal to Olley, which says everything about the kind of person he is and the great team he leads.
We all thoroughly enjoyed our food and left with full stomachs and big smiles. Thank you, Olley & team, for your generosity and hospitality. If you’re ever in or around Herne Hill, this is the place to eat – you won’t find better fish &...
Read moreOh dear. What can be said about Olleys? Their self-publicity and promotion drew us into the restaurant, despite the look of the exterior. Various statements about it being the best fish & chips in London, or something like that. However, it isn't. It's like a weird, multi-level swiss chalet inside and noisy because of all the hard surfaces and the number of people in the place - which I guess is fine if you like that kind of thing. The food itself wasn't great at all. Soggy chips, not very tasty fish, awful scampi. Not even very big portions. Condiments were presented like a backstreet chippy in Southend (apologies to Southend), which again would be fine if you were paying those prices. It was expensive and we came away wondering how they can get away with it. But the place was full, so it's...

Reluctantly came down to Olley’s for the first time in a long time tonight as the queue at Ken’s was horrific. Good Friday, 8pm. Was to be expected I suppose. Zero queue at Olley’s which was one positive, along with the chips which were acceptable. But as I say - it’s no surprise there was no queue here. £10 for that piece of fish... £10! 25+% more than the aforementioned Ken’s, and at least 25-30% smaller, AND no where near as nice! No. Where. Near. And sausage in batter? All the LOLs. What a cheek. What batter!? That thing looked like Katie Price had had a go on it, and she was hungry. Stopped going here a good few years ago because the glory days of Olley’s had well and truly passed. And it’s fair to say, they’ve not returned in...
