I was lured in by the big sign on the front advertising gluten-free and vegan options as I’m coeliac and lactose intolerant.
When you walk in, it seems like a nice place for a takeaway. This feeling was quickly eradicated when I started asking questions about allergens. Every question I asked was met with a “I don’t know” and there was not much interest in trying to find out until I pushed. This was to no avail as they had no allergen records on site, and when they tried phoning someone else to ask, they also didn’t know. Not a great impression.
In the end, given it was Sunday evening in the days between Christmas and New Year and my options were limited, I went for it by choosing a pizza with the safest toppings and asking if they could clean the surfaces of the paddles et cetera when preparing my gluten-free base. They said they did but from what I saw all they did was wipe it down with a yellow rag they grabbed from on top of the oven that seemed to have been used for other things. The guy preparing my pizza did make an effort to wash his hands first, but then also dried his hands with the same rag they used to clean the paddle. They then however used a different paddle to take the pizza out of the oven which I did not see them clean down before hand. They also sliced the pizza with the same pizza cutter used for other pizzas. So really they had no awareness of cross-contamination. In short, I would not recommend this place if you’re coeliac. I took a stupid risk by eating half of the pizza and...
Read moreI am half Italian and intolerant to gluten/dairy/soya + my son is allergic to sulphites. I called b4 placing my online order to ensure food would b safe 4 us. Immediately after no answer from the landline I got a phone call from Martin, on a mobile number apologising 4 having missed my call snd offering assistance. He went out his way to check all his ingredients packaging whilst I was on the phone. His atitude was throughout kind, attentive & professional with no pressure to place an order whatsoever. A truly well intended service. 10stars costumer service right there!! We had a Verdura pizza on gluten-free base & vegan cheese. Their website is very neat and placing my online order was simple. There’s extra charges for GF base + Vegan cheese but hey, we r used to paying more 4 this kinda stuff @ supermarkets anyways so why complain that they also spend more on this ingredients?… I’m pleased that we now found a place close to home where we can get really tasty, proper wood fired Italian pizza which is not only safe 4 us but also free from unnecessary additives/ preservatives commonly found on pre-packed Gluten-free food. We enjoyed our GF/DF/SF/SulF pizza whilst my other half enjoyed a traditional wheat sourdough 4Formaggi pizza. Delivery is done by their own vehicle and very speedy. Steaming hot pizza delivered by a friendly faced chap. Overall a great experience on a rainy Sunday lunch. Will definitely be...
Read moreI gave these guys 5 for atmosphere , although we ordered delivery, simply because it was a happy household from their order.
Now I've eaten a LOT of pizza, pizza in Italy from neighbourhood places where I was the only foreigner in there, to pizza's in my home town of London, old school pizza's to hipster pizza places in Brixton, Peckham and Shoreditch right to chain store pizza like pizza hut and pizza express
So I think I can judge a decent pizza.
Not since having a pizza in Streatham at Bravi Ragazzi have I had a pizza as good as this. Dough a better cooked consticency, perfect presentation, lovely dips one fiery the other tasy but mild, garlic bread ( which was free in the deal I ordered) was divine.
Compared to other pizza's I've had in the area the Italian place over in Charshalton high street, or the pizza place in Stafford Road, this place is up there with some of London's best!!!
I'm a little scared now, as I can see myself spending thousands here every time I can't be bothered to cook,...
