I cant actually comment on the food. I prebooked a table for this evening solely on the fact i would be in Wallington and the pub is part of the Eat Out to Help Out Scheme. I booked for 3 people via the website, I asked them to confirm they were part of the scheme, which they did. However when I arrived with my 5 year old son (at 5.30pm) I was told no children under 18. I informed the staff that I had booked a table for 3 people (there is no option for adult or child) and there was no mention of this rule on the website. All I was told is due to Covid no children are allowed. I asked why this was not on the website and as they had emailed me to confirm the booking why was it not mentioned? I was told its plastered over social media. I informed them I dont use social media, I'm one of those strange people that dont live their life on Facebook! I appreciate Covid has required some changes but these need to be communicated properly, websites should be amended and places should communicate. The photo of the booking page of the website shows they haven't bothered trying to do this at all! If I had known this in advance I would not have booked this restaurant and would have chosen another place locally that is part of the Governments scheme. I'm all for Eating Out to Help but they didn't help me out, and weren't really that bothered they had caused a major inconvenience. Needless to say this experience has put me off ever going to this pub in the future with or...

Ease of lockdown-outdoor dining only. Positives: A beautifully presented garden with friendly staff members. Negatives: waited an hour and a half for food at 3pm on a Monday. When it did arrive, fish was a tad on the greasy side and burger cheese was packet grated, super salty and unmelted. There are pub dogs running around which was lovely entertainment however, when food did eventually come out, they were jumping onto the benches and tables and licking plates - you’d think staff or management would take control of this? The table next to us also experienced this from the dogs and requested they get taken away while they eat, they were taken inside and then let out straight after. A customer also bought along their pet dog to accompany them but the pub dogs became very territorial and loud - other tables suggested keeping them inside but this was ignored. Staff did not ask for feedback during or at the end of the meal. Paid up and left. I had high expectations but was first time visiting and probably last. Hopefully management acknowledge this feedback...

DO NOT COME WITH DOGS. Food and drinks are good but not worth going to if you have a dog. We had an incredibly disappointing experience yesterday evening. One of the owner’s dogs (off the lead roaming around without supervision, as is usually the case) attacked our dog (on lead) and drew blood. We only noticed whilst eating our food, and the bite has worsened through the night. The incident was completely unprovoked.

A group of people who clearly work there or know the staff were dismissive about it, saying that the dog had just had a pup and was defensive. This is fine, but that dog should NOT be off lead in an establishment that markets itself as “dog friendly”. Our spaniels are not aggressive but they will defend each other if necessary, and they were kept on the lead. The owner’s dog should have been supervised and kept away if they knew it was aggressive, as the group was saying.

Now we’re left to go to the vet today and pay for antibiotics for our dog which is simply and utterly...

History of the Rose and Crown: Charles Mawer, from Lincolnshire, and his wife Mary, moved into a cottage at Wallington Corner, about 100 yards from the Boorne brewery, around 1848. They started operating a beer shop cum grocery from there. The name “The Rose & Crown” was being used by 1861. As soon as you walk through the doors of the establishment, you'll find the staff welcoming & friendly. Great atmosphere & a warm village feel. The decor is modern and comfortable with plenty of seating. A large beer garden with a covered area, plenty of space & seating. Dog-friendly... 🐕 Great menu selection. Definitely will return & thoroughly recommend it.

Enjoyed an outstanding Sunday roast last Sunday and at and highly recommend! The lamb shank as seen in the photo was fall-off-the-bone tender, packed with flavour, and paired perfectly with a generous helping of roasties, Yorkshire pudding, and seasonal veg. The beef roast was equally impressive, beautifully cooked (pink and juicy!) and full of that classic comfort-food goodness. Add in the cosy pub atmosphere and friendly service, and you’ve got the recipe for a lovely Sunday meal.
