Piptree — Restaurant in London

We visited Piptree on 08 July at 11:15 AM. We live in the neighborhood and were very excited about visiting the new coffee/brunch place in our neighborhood. We visited Piptree with our 2 friends and their kids (7.5 year olds and 4 year olds).

In first glance, the coffee house was buzzing with excitement and we could not wait to try out the food and coffee. But all this changed very fast.

Since the place was busy, we decided to take the table outside. We were 6 of us and only 3 chairs were available. We asked one of the servers if there were more chairs available and his response was "this is all that is available as you can see". In comparison, there was another family of 4 - which came right after us and the servers attitude towards them was totally different. He welcomed them and in spite of no place being available - he very politely told them -- he will see what he can do for them.

Even though we only had 3 chairs and it was 6 of us -- we still decided to stay and ordered our food and coffee. Our food was served by the same server as above however, he did not provide us with any cutlery. When we requested for it - he first bought only 1 pair and got irritated when we reminded him that we will need more.

The same server got us our coffee order wrong and when we told him the order is wrong -- his response was "this is what you ordered, can't you see this is an Americano". Please note: our order was of Mocha. The person making coffee was kind enough to correct our order and take the blame on himself --- however, I don't think he knows the full story about his servers behavior.

Since, we only had 3 chairs available initially -- after sometime -- another family which was outside, left and told us to take their chairs. We went ahead and took 3 chairs in order to sit down properly and enjoy our coffee and food. The same server came outside and told us --- "the chairs are for customers only". Imagine how appalling this would be when we have paid for food and coffee and are still eating. In comparison, there was a women sitting inside, on a 4 seater table/couch for at least 60 mins with only 1 cup of coffee, working away on her laptop and eating snacks from her bag (so not ordered via the coffee place) -- but the server did not say anything to her or ask her to move in order to accommodate people who had ordered food and coffee and had little kids with them.

To clarify, we are a South Asian family and all the above families highlighted above were White. The feeling the 6 of us left with is that we are not welcome at this establishment by that particular server. To remind this establishment, I have been living in this area for over 7 years and come from a large community of South Asian's living in London. My go to cafe for EVERYTHING!

Firstly I want to mention how AMAZING each and every staff member is here. They take the time to talk to you, check your order is how you wanted it, and generally are just so lovely when you need that caffeine fix for the day or top quality food to satisfy your hunger and tastebuds beyond belief! From the main chef (who I think is the owner, I may be wrong) to the waitresses and the amazing manager Milky…they definitely add to the overall experience. Helena and Milky just make every visit such a treat. So, a huge thank you to the whole team especially theses two is absolutely needed!

There’s not a single thing I wouldn’t recommend on their menu…yes I’ve tried (almost!) everything! I have literally brought as many friends and family here as I could, because of how amazed I am by this place. Flawless breakfast/brunch menu, and their coffee is to die to for! Always made to perfection, that I now only want coffee from here.

Highly recommend their berry pancakes, their full AND veggie breakfast, their smoothies and their mouthwatering toasties!…coconut babyccino is also a lovely treat for any little ones. Not to mention the doggy treats on offer. They have literally thought of everything here yet kept it simple.

If I could give 10 stars I would....

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Piptree Coffee and Kitchen, and I have to say, it was a genuinely lovely experince. From the moment I walked in, I was completely drawn in by the cozy and inviting atmosphere. The staff at Piptree were incredibly friendly and attentive, making me feel right at home. You could tell they were truly passionate about what they do, as they eagerly explained the menu and gave me recommendations based on my preferences. The level of customer service was truly outstanding. For my order, I went with the avocado toast ( to which I added feta & eggs), and let me tell you, it was incredible. The avocado was perfectly ripe, and the combination of poached eggs and feta cheese added a delightful creaminess. Each bite was a burst of flavours that left me craving more. (The full English that was ordered by the table next to me was "to-die-for".) I As a coffee lover, I had high expectations, and they definitely delivered.
