Toong Tong Thai — Restaurant in London

This place delivered from starter to dessert. I had the Toong Tong parcels for a starter which were perfectly cooked and I loved the cheese/butter dip. The decoratively cut flower carrot was cute and because the dip was quite rich it helped to have something else to munch on between parcels. Then the jungle curry which was stuffed with fresh vegetables. The chicken was fresh and cooked very authentically. I loved the young peppercorns; I was a bit sceptical at first thinking they would overpower the flavour but they did anything but! Finally my gorgeously presented mango crepe with ice cream. Wonderful presentation, lots of little bits of fruit to break up the rich flavours and the ice cream itself was delicious.

I felt like a lot of passion was put in to every part of my meal including the wonderful staff with their big smiles. For sure this place will be a regular haunt...

We booked a table at Toon Tong Thai, but when we arrived, the restaurant was practically empty except for one occupied table. Despite this, we were instructed to sit at a small table. When we requested a larger table, the waiter flatly refused, displaying an unnecessary level of rudeness. Shocked by such poor treatment, we decided to leave.

Fortunately, this turned out to be a blessing in disguise, as we ended up at Hotaru on Wandsworth High Street, just two minutes away. The experience there was the complete opposite: the food was outstanding, and the staff were genuinely welcoming and professional - a stark contrast to the unpleasant reception we had just...

What an awesome restaurant. The food here is awesome. The flavours are really bold and fresh, as you would expect of authentic Thai food. I tried the salt and chilli squid, mushroom tom yum, and pad si ew. It was as good as the food I've had in Thailand, albeit exported for the UK palette (not as spicy).

The staff are really friendly and welcoming, they take great care of their customers and make an effort to be warm and caring, even during a busy service.

The Tom Yum is the golden standard of Thai cooking and these guys do an amazing Tom Yum at a reasonable price.
