Pizza Pilgrims, a haven for pizza lovers in London, recently stole my heart (and stomach) with a delightful dining experience. From the moment I stepped into the warm, inviting atmosphere, I knew I was in for a treat. The friendly buzz of conversation, the intoxicating aroma of wood-fired ovens, and the vibrant splashes of color on the walls all hinted at the culinary adventure that awaited.

Our charming server, Valentina, added to the magic. With her warm smile and attentive service, she expertly guided us through the menu, her passion for pizza evident in every recommendation. Her knowledge of the ingredients and cooking methods was impressive, and her suggestions were spot-on.

Now, onto the star of the show: the pizzas! We embarked on a delicious journey, starting with the classic Margherita. The simplicity of this pizza was its strength. The San Marzano tomatoes burst with freshness, the fior di latte mozzarella was creamy and divine, and the basil leaves added a touch of herbaceousness. Each bite was a perfect harmony of flavors, a testament to the quality of the ingredients and the skill of the pizzaiolos.

Next, we delved into the depths of cheesy goodness with the Otto Formaggi. This pizza was a symphony of four cheeses - mozzarella, gorgonzola, taleggio, and pecorino - each one singing its own unique melody. The gorgonzola's tanginess played beautifully against the sweetness of the taleggio, while the pecorino added a sharp, salty counterpoint. The mozzarella, the maestro of the cheese quartet, held everything together in a creamy embrace.

Finally, we reached the Pizza Parmigiana, a masterpiece of comfort food. The succulent slices of chicken were perfectly cooked, tender and juicy, and the rich tomato sauce was infused with the earthy aroma of oregano. The parmesan cheese, generously sprinkled on top, added a salty, nutty touch that tied the whole dish together. Each bite was a burst of flavor, a warm hug on a cold London evening.

Throughout the meal, Valentina's attentiveness continued to impress. She ensured our water glasses were never empty, our plates were cleared promptly, and she even offered recommendations for dessert (which we, of course, couldn't resist). Her genuine warmth and friendly demeanor made the entire experience even more enjoyable.

As we left Pizza Pilgrims, my heart was full and my stomach was content. I had not only enjoyed a delicious meal, but I had also experienced a slice of London's culinary charm. The combination of fresh, high-quality ingredients, expert preparation, and Valentina's delightful service made Pizza Pilgrims a truly unforgettable dining experience.

If you're looking for a pizza paradise in London, look no further than Pizza Pilgrims. Just be sure to ask for Valentina - she'll make your pizza pilgrimage even more special.

P.S. Don't forget to try the Nutella calzone for dessert. You...

Gluten free + dairy free (vegan) options available - clear allergen information, not recommended for coliacs, made very clear on the website and by staff and realistically cross contamination, no matter how careful is going to happen

3 stars overall

From an intolerance point of view and as I pretty much only post about gluten and dairy free eateries and options, got to loose a star, not for quality or services, practicality for intolerance point of view.

Also, if it's an intolerance and not a lifestyle choice the chances of cross contamination are high. However. If you're seriously gluten and dairy intolerant...a pizza joint really isn't the most sensible choice, and you got to ask yourself why you'd choose a pizza place...unless you have 3 starving kids, and the risk of cross contamination is going to be less painful than 3 whiney hangry kids

Partner who is neither dairy nor gluten intolerant (ordered an 8 cheese) didn't feel like it was an overall 4 star either..3.75 maybe??

4 stars awarded for food because it's not 3. But not really a solid 4 (based on the gluten and dairy eaters opinions)

My pizza was good for a gluten and dairy free pizza, one of the best GF bases. Not penalised with extra charges for gluten free base or switching to vegan cheese

Kids (10, 7 + 4) had a (standard non gf non df) pepperoni and Mac + cheese balls between them and it was pretty much enough. Highly recommended for a quick lunch with kids or early dinner. Partner had an 8 cheeses.

Better than an express pizza chain restaurant in terms of selection of pizzas and tastes

4 stars for service.

Mainly for how seriously the staff took the allergens and cross contamination. But the service was a bit meh even for Shoreditch.

3 stars for atmosphere

Smelled heavily of toilet cleaner, when we arrived, which was quite over powering to the point we nearly decided to leave but the kids were too hungry.

Relative to the price of the pizzas, compared to other pizza serving restaurants in the area, there are nicer atmospheres for...

Walked in, seats not wiped before we sat down. My children were told not to play with a Christmas tree - literally worth £1 and they simply had put a decoration that had fallen off back on. Order was taken but waitress didn't write it down, had to confirm several times - could have been avoided if she just wrote it down. Wrong drink came (ordered cherry negroni and got a cherry soda - no apology). Children given stickers and then waitress complained they were sticking them on the table which I said I would obviously remove before we left. They have crayons for children but she didn't give those - instead gave stickers. What do you expect a 2year old to do with stickers?? Took plates away without asking if we had finished. Her attire was completely inappropriate. We are sitting so her hip is at our eye level - showing midrift and wearing very tight leggings which showed everything at that level - very off putting. I asked manager to remove the service charge and instead of saying "sorry for the poor service" tried to defend her college saying she simply didn't want my children to hurt themselves on the Christmas tree 😂 there are sharp knives on the table, if she cared about the safety of children surely those would have been removed? Rubbish excuse, rubbish management, rubbish staff. Go if you want a side of disappointment and lack of service...
