English pizza chain celebrating 60-years of operations. Cash, credit card and probably e-wallet payments accepted. Indoor seating in a casual, relaxed environment. Pizzas, pasta, salads, appetizers.
The atmosphere at this location is pleasant. Small tables and chairs by and large, groups larger than 4-6 will have trouble here without some rearranging of the furniture. Pizzas are mid-range in quality. Family bundle with two large Classic pizzas two sides, and an order of dough balls saves you a few pounds if you're ordering for a family.
Pizza crust is pretty good but could be a bit crisper. Good amount of sauce. Toppings are a bit on the scant side. Pepperoni pizzas barely have 3 pepperonis on each slice. The La Reien is good but again, toppings are very scant for the price.
Dough balls are tasty and served with a trio of sauces. Fried halloumi is tasty enough (but I haven't tried it elsewhere for comparison sake). Small salad is also fine.
Service was a bit disorganized but friendly. I'd definitely rate it higher than Papa John's but a close call with Pizza hut, your other two options in this...
Read moreCame down to the most local Pizza Express this evening - in the hope of getting a bargain for the 60 year anniversary (half expecting it to be absolutely mangled inside) arrived whilst still empty but were told it was completely booked out, manager then proceeded to hand us vouchers honouring the 1965 price offer and told us to return around 8pm.
Once we returned we were seated quickly and served by the manager Steve (more on him later) he took our food order, laughing and having banter with us and even letting a friend order 2 pizzas 😂 greedy cow! 🐮
The pizzas were decent, not what I’d usually order to be honest but at 50p it was obviously a complete no brainer!
The restaurant was still almost at full capacity when we paid and were ready to leave when Steve came over and despite being extremely busy and clearly rushed off his feet came over for a chat and thanked us, he looked cream crackered the poor fella 😂 absolutely wonderful service from a genuinely top guy - he could easily have told us to “go elsewhere”
Would happily return! Pizza Express management - give this...
Read moreI went to pizza express at Kennington today with friends and decided to avail their 3 course menu offer which sounds quite nice and affordable. However, I had a feeling that these kind of offers are dodgy and I was right.
The 3 course have a separate menu. You will get a starter, main and desert for £15.95. Any other discount will not be applicable which is fair as the prices are discounted already. Here, I do think that they should also mention 'Tiny or shrink' in their menu as all the dishes were enough to taste but a person who want to eat rightful amount, does not want to come home and have dinner again and feel that they have wasted their £15.95, this offer is not for them.
I was quite impressed with the quality of the food at Clapham Junction branch and that's why I decided to come again but right now while writing this menu, am really feeling hungry and about to eat my dinner again.
No Thanks...
