Poppy’s 2 — Restaurant in London

The worst resturant I have ever experienced in my life. We booked for a table of 6 for 5.5.23 at 7.30pm from the offset the lady serving our table was rude and bolshy. No smile, rude and abrupt and rushed to take our starters fine. Starters arrived which were 3 mixed sharing platters along with three portions of deep fried crab. The crab was disgusting no flavour, greasy and coated in a mushy breadcrumb. Each member of our table took a bite and decided to try no more. We decided to stick with it and order our mains most of which was ok however their nasri rice meals one chicken and prawn were diabolical, overcooked rubbery prawns, hard overcooked chicken, flavourless mushy rice the best part of the dish was the cucumber cut up on the side. The food was bad enough however we also had to endure both the male and female waiters rushing our table through meals, removing dishes we hadn't finished eating yet and whilst two of our party were still eating they decided to dump the unitemised bill in the middle of the table without us finishing our food or asking for the bill! We then asked if we could pay and leave as we'd have enough of their rushing, rude attitude and lack of service only to be told we cannot pay by card but by cash only. Nothing about this is mentioned on their website, there is no signage displaying this in the resturant and there is no mention of this on the menu. If this is your policy you should at least advise customers of this when seating them not after 2 courses of food and alcohol!! Of course most of our party didn't have cash so had to leave to walk to the nearest sainsburys to get money out to come back and pay the bill. The bill itself was another issue in total it came to £121 but as none of us had cash on us and had to go to the cashpoint where you could only take out £20 notes none of us had the £1. Please believe this woman practically chased us out the door stating we owed a £ to the point where we had to explain that we weren't aware it was cash only you didn't tell us even when we called to make the booking we had to take money out at the cash point which only gives notes so we don't have £1 and after your rude service all evening you can go sing for your £1 which resulted in her cussing in her language and slamming the door shut! The worst place ever it might be bring your own bottle and be stuffed with dead animals and quirky furniture but if you want tasty food and good customer service don't...

Terrible service. Went with a group of friends without booking as you can do walk-ins, the restaurant was completely empty. We were told we could only have the table for an hour and 15minutes, the waitress was rushing us to order saying all the food will come together because we've now got X amount of time left till we need to give the table up. She didn't leave the table either to let us decide from the menu, she stood there telling us to order. A girl then came and sat on the table next to ours, she wanted a bigger table as it was booked for 3 people, the waiter was telling her he can't give her the table as there's a big reservation coming and because my friends and I have taken the "only spare" table that was not booked. This is not a conversation I want to be hearing whilst I'm at a restaurant, to make customers feel not welcomed. As well as, the waitress kept reminding us how long we had till we needed to go. When the bill came, we asked to see the menu as they work out totals on a calculator, thus, the total didn't look right. She then rolled her eyes and tutted at us for asking to double check with a menu. Service is essential to having returning customers, if you have seated us, you have therefore agreed to have us as your customers for dinner. I think the whole place is style over substance!!! Truly the worst service I have recieved in a long time. I arrived at 5pm without booking because they said they dont take bookings. There website isn't even real it's a fashion website. I wasnt greated at the door (bare in mind this place is so small only 8 covers). I waited 15 minutes before being greeted to then be offered a table and told to leave by 6:30pm. I think that's fair without booking its plenty of time. The waitress however was so rude, and giving off a very distasteful vibe. There was no urgency with trying to take our order, no offering of drinks, no smile, no basic level of interaction you would expect from a hospitality restaurant. We had enough by the time she finally came to take our order (at 5:45) we just left. The waitress then followed us to the door only to slam it behind as we left. This was my first time coming here and my last I have never experience such a disgrace to hospitality and further more a lack of care by any member off staff. I will not in a million years set foot in what essentially a house they turned into a cheap thai takeaway with funky decoration.
