London Pub MapLondon Pub Map
🚇 Peckham Rye đŸș £5.80 Amstel The Prince of Peckham is located just off bustling Peckham High Street in Southeast London. The nearest station is Peckham Rye on the Windrush Line. This pub was originally called The Clayton Arms, built in 1867, then rebuilt in the 1930’s. The Prince of Peckham came to be in 2017 and is named after Lee ‘The Peckham Prince’ Stanley from the 90’s TV show “Desmonds”. The exterior of the pub is clad in beautiful glazed tiles and the stonework is painted burnt orange. On the right hand wall of the pub is a large mural by @mrcenzone which changes from time to time. This is a good size pub where the decor is traditional at heart with some contemporary touches here and there. The servery is centrally located and is also clad in glazed green tiles like the exterior. To the right of the servery is a hatch that leads to the kitchen. The seating is a mix of traditional tables and chairs, poser tables and comfy Chesterfields. There are some nice features dotted around the bar which add a touch of style to mix with the traditional pub decor. There are four other rooms at the pub which are available for private hire, I had a little peek in to the Terracotta Room which has stunning stained glass windows. There is outside terrace with benches to the left of the pub. The beer selection is all keg with a selection of mainstream brands and some local brews from @brixtonbrewery . I kept it simple and ordered an Amstel, my pint was great, price point was less than average. The food is by @whitemencantjerk who serve up a variety of Jerk Chicken and comfort food dishes, we were feeling peckish, so we thought we try the Jerk Chicken. We thoroughly enjoyed our food, it was flavourful and had a nice kick, ÂŁ14.95 all in. We arrived around 7pm on warm Saturday evening in July. The pub was absolutely packed with an upbeat, vibrant and lively atmosphere. The punters were a mix of all ages with a 70/30 split of drinkers to diners. The service was friendly, the team member who served us was welcoming and courteous. Peckham has seen numerous pub closures over the years, so it was great to see this pub in full swing and thriving. We loved the vibrant atmosphere, the beer offering was good, the service friendly and we will definitely be back for more Jerk Chicken. The @princeofpeckham has got it going on! 📅 27th July 2024 More London Pub info @londonpubmap đŸ»

First thing first, make sure you book your table in advance if you want to sit down in this place. It seems that you can only sit for a fixed period of time as we were turfed out of our seats because our table was booked for someone else at a particular time, “so annoying” this place is not far fro Peckham Rye and is quite spacious they have a private area upstairs then the main area on the ground floor and a basement space with a tiny bar. My honest assessment of this place on a Friday night is beautiful chaos, ordering from the main bar is a nightmare, but that’s because it’s busy. Four of us decided to meet up at this place and order some food and drinks. We all ordered the Jerk Chicken and fries which came with coleslaw well at least that’s what I think it was. The food was bland and tasteless on this occasion with not even a hint of spice, if you know anything about Jerk chicken it’s meant to be spicy. By the time the food arrived it was luke warm so immediately bad brownie points. Don’t forget this was after we were all moved from our precious table. No one enjoyed the food I checked to make sure I wasn’t just being a “Jerk” excuse the pun. The portion was fair but as mentioned tasteless on this visit. I need to add that this not is just one persons opinion and it could have been an off day because I have been there in the daytime for lunch and the food definitely tasted better. The positives was that the atmosphere was fun and friendly the place felt safe because the security was on point. The security staff were polite and friendly. Some of the staff were really nice and helpful especially a young lady with dreads so was so apologetic when we had to move and helpful throughout the evening. The music was great apart from when the dj changed for a short while but overall music was fantastic. This really is a great place and with a great atmosphere as mentioned but the little things can ruin a night such as cheap cola instead of Coca Cola as a first option. This place I would say is for the 25-30ish year olds and up it’s a nice place to hang out. They also have outside seating which is a premium I forgot to mention which in the summer is going to be rammed. So food 8 out of 10, atmosphere 10 out of 10, drinks expensive. I have since been back and can no longer complain about the quality of the drinks. Staff 10-10.

We booked a table in advance as we are aware this place can get busy, we wasn't really greeted on arrival sat down and a guy came over to confirm our booking and then walked off, no one comes to take your order and no menus given so had to go the bar to get menus etc Ordered the lamb platter, we waited a while for food eventually my food arrived my friends jerk chicken platter she still had to wait not ideal when food should be served same time. The food wasn't hot more like lukewarm lamb was nice and seasoned but the rest of it was alright. I feel the kitchen was stressed with all the orders coming through ie they have a lot of takeaway orders being prepped alongside in house food orders ie they apologised for Bringing food out late and offered a free drink. This satff member was very pleasant and I did feel for them as they seemed to be the only one trying to get orders out to customers The place is a nice atmosphere but the customer service is a bit questionable and staff looked confused at times with orders and placing orders. Nice venue food was alright but for what you get seemed quite small portions for the platter specials. Ie a group came in and sat down at a table next to us and wanted to order drinks and was told to go to the bar to order. They didn't look impressed If your serving food and drinks you should state that food and drink needs to be ordered at the bar. It was all a bit confusing. Nice venue but I can see how overwhelmed they can get with influx of customers. Ie if you don't go to the bar to order food and drinks ie don't expect anyone to come to your table to take your order.

I had a private event at the Shrine room

Overall, I did have a good night but there were some minimum requirements that were not carried out due to miscommunication and lack of organisation from managers.

I was promised several things on the night of;

⁃ A private queue - The venues’ rule is that after 10pm, guests will be charged £5. I did find this quite odd as I was having my own private event but nonetheless I agreed to this. I was told by the bookings manager that I would have my own private line so that guests can get in quicker. I told guests to arrive at 9.30pm so they can avoid the entry fee and majority of my guests did so. On the night, I came outside to pick up a guest and was told that everyone was in a general queue. I told them that I had a private event and that there should be a private line but was told again that it was just general queue. I brought this up in an email to the manager, she told me the manager on the night rectified the problem but this was not the case. I was there myself and clearly did not witness a private line being brought up.

⁃ Bar not ready on time - prior to the event, I met with the manager to discuss what time guests will be arriving etc. While my initial enquiry email asked for an 8pm start, we verbally agreed upon 9.30pm as the time guests would arrive. On the night, I arrived at 9.10pm to ensure things were ok and to be generally punctual. At 9.30pm a bartender was not there yet so I had asked if they could bring someone down. After telling the manager no one came down yet, so I asked the security to ask again yet still no one came down. It was only until I went up around 10pm to ask myself till they eventually brought someone down. When she did arrive, she had to set up the bar as she mentioned the bar was not properly stocked up. (Btw the bartender was absolutely kind and amazing!) Only till then she could serve drinks which i found very disorganised on the venues part. In an email, the bookings manager told me that it was a busy Saturday and that it was difficult to send a bartender down and the bar set up was ready to go as the daytime manager prepares this beforehand. This was not the case. I believe preparations should have been made beforehand and that it should not impact my event.

⁃ I prepaid for bottles so guests can use up my drinks before purchasing their own - I asked the bartender if the bottles were finished yet as I was prepared to purchase more. She realised she had been charging guests and not using the pre-paid bottles to serve drinks. She was very understanding and offered some shots on the house. If I had not brought this up, the prepaid bottles would have went to waste. The bookings manager told me that I did ask for bottles to be served myself, but in an email running up to the night, I did confirm that I would like it behind the bar instead. This was again a miscommunication between staff and management.

⁃ Cocktails running out - At 11pm, the bartender told me that cocktails ran out. I found it odd that it only took an hour for cocktails to run out. I would expect the inventory to be sufficient for at least the majority of the night.

After emailing back and forth raising the issues and asking for some compensation from the issues raised - I was told that they were not willing to compensate me and that they did not violate any of the T&C’s of the contract. I even CC’d the owner (Clement) into an email thread so he could see and that it could be resolved fairly. They eventually ignored all email communications and brushed me off. Yes they did not violate any written agreement but we did have a verbal agreement to how the night would run.

The venue itself and staff were amazing. But the lack of organisation did affect my night. I wouldn’t not recommend here as it ticks many boxes. But I would say to be very particular and make sure every agreement is in writing.

As a regular and a local, I am very disappointed of the how this...

I have been visiting the Prince of Peckham since it first opened. As a local resident of Peckham, I have always experienced great service. I even brought my mother here for her birthday during a night out, and the staff was kind and excellent.

However, on a recent spontaneous visit, I encountered new security personnel, which was disappointing. I wish they would bring back the old security team, who were always courteous and made women feel comfortable. The new security staff are rude, violent, and discourteous, particularly the bald, light-skinned one with tattoos. Many people left the line because of this guard's extreme rudeness.

I was at the end of the line, not even in the line, while finishing my drink. This has never been an issue, even at other establishments and festivals I've attended. The security guard seemed on edge and decided to pick on us, two young women. He told us to move out of the line to finish our drinks, which we did, stepping out of the way and into a corner.

The security guard then checked our IDs without any issue. When our bags were checked by a lovely security guard, he had no problems with us. But the bald-headed security guard whispered something to him, after which we were told we couldn’t enter because we hadn’t moved far enough. There was no mention of a corner initially, and the security guard who checked our bags knew we did nothing wrong as we were not rude or volatile.

We tried speaking to the bald-headed guard, who claimed to be the manager. I know the manager, and he was not him, which means he was spreading misinformation. He suggested we might have misheard or miscommunicated what he said but still refused us entry.

My party and I were not drunk; we were calm and had paid for our tickets. Another security guard interrupted me while I was trying to talk to the hostile and aggressive guard. The one with braids told me to “shush,” which I found incredibly disrespectful and walked away while I was talking. A weird narcissist ego trip from grown men who are put in place to make people feel comfortable and safe. You are the first ppl, people meet before they walk into an establishment.

I am saddened that the Prince of Peckham employs such incompetent security. Please bring back the previous team. I will not be attending again, despite my long history with this establishment. I will also inform my local Peckham group about this incident, as I believe it is unacceptable to bully young women who have done nothing wrong and paid to attend a Saturday night event.

The guard also claimed my friend ignored him when he told her to move. She is deaf in one ear, which is none of his business, but clearly, they are not kind. I became upset at the end, which is a normal human reaction to bullying and disrespect. I will not be...

We recently had an event here and I have alot of opinions. The staff on the day were lovely and we had no issues. The food was also great and everyone loved it! However, the organisation of it all was very unprofessional. Mostly down to alot of miscommunication. First, when I made my original enquiry, it took around a week for a response, and when they did respond, I was given the wrong information. I was told that the employee was new and things had recently changed. That's understandable. I asked if we could meet in person to look at the venue and ask our questions, to save more miscommunication. We set our meeting date/time and when we got the venue, the staff were confused as the person we were supposed to be meeting with was not in. They managed to find someone to show us around, but as it was not her specific job, she was unable to answer all of our questions. We were then assured that they would email us that evening with all the information. I did not receive an email. I emailed the person we was originally meant to be meeting, however I got no response. I ended up emailing someone else and eventually they called us, to save more miscommunication. Once we got our event booked in, we were placing our pre-order and noticed there was an automatic service charge added, before we'd even recieved any service! Thankfully when checking out, you could remove this, but make sure you're checking your total carefully. Also, we were sent the package menu with prices, however the prices were outdated and ended up costing more than we anticipated. We were sent a drinks package menu too, however there was nowhere to actually order these drinks. We just waited till on the day, but they weren't able to do it. We even asked for 2 bottles of prosecco, but they only had 1 on site. When we was being shown the space, we was told there would be a dedicated bartender for our event, however on the day, this was not the case. Also, when we were shown around, we were told the area that we wanted to book would just have the venue music playing, which was fine by us However, on the day, there was alot of football playing and the music was quite low. I'm not too bothered by the football, but I do think this is something we should have been informed of beforehand. Overall, the staff in site on the day were lovely, however the planning of it all was not up to scratch and left us feeling...
