I had one of the worst dining experiences I can remember at Rosa’s Thai in Westfield on Tuesday 10th December at around 1700.
It started off with the manager, who, when I asked for a recommendation on two dishes, simply said, “It’s personal choice,” and vanished without offering so much as a suggestion. Meanwhile, the ambiance was bizarre—two different songs seemed to be playing at once, which was more headache-inducing than mood-setting. The tables were sticky, and the place was practically empty, yet the staff acted like they had somewhere far more interesting to be.
My drink was plonked down in front of me and left there, no one bothering to pour it or even check in. The starters, average fried chicken and pork skewers, were just okay, definitely nothing memorable. But the real low point was their “signature” fried rice, which arrived as a congealed lump of darkness that tasted as sad and bland as it looked. It could’ve passed as a half-hearted 2am kitchen experiment, not something served at a supposedly reputable restaurant.
After three attempts to wave someone down—did I mention how empty the place was?—I finally got a server to come over. He looked at me like I’d just handed him “Quantum Computing for Beginners” when I tried to return the inedible main. Without a word, he turned and disappeared. Zero acknowledgment of the problem, just gone.
Then came the attempt at a resolution, which somehow made things worse. I asked the manager for a refund on the fried rice, expecting at least a half-hearted apology. Instead, I got a shrug and another disappearing act. I pointed out that I’d been ignored and suggested that, under the circumstances, maybe the automatically added service charge should be removed. She actually argued with me, insisting that she’d been attentive and caring. The irony was off the charts.
I also asked that the barely-touched, now-warm beer be taken off the bill, which—after some resistance—she agreed to. But then I tried to explain that if you’re removing the inedible main dish from my £20 set menu, the overall price should reflect that. Cue more confusion, pushback, and time wasted. Eventually, she returned with the bill, minus the beer, but somehow the service charge had snuck back on. Because why not double down on a bad situation?
This was my dining experience at Rosa’s Thai: sticky tables, weird overlapping music, disinterested staff who barely acknowledged my existence, and a final bill as frustrating as the meal. It was every bit as dark and comical as that sad fried rice they served. Safe to say, I won’t be...
Read moreWe entered Rosa’s Thai without any pre-planning and near to closing time but had a very nice culinary experience. They also offer student discount! 🌟
Food wise we were very happy as we ordered 4 food dishes which were:
Pad Thai: we love Pad Thai and almost every Thai place we must have ordered, their Pad Thai is amazing and delicious - this is definitely one of the most tastiest Pad thai i have eaten and would highly recommend! 🌟
Pad Kra Prow (chilli & basil stir fry): great dish with options of minced chicken or pork belly but definitely a spicy option so beware 🌶️
Gaeng Panang (Panang Curry): The combination of Chicken and Aubergine goes nicely in this flavourful and creamy red curry dish, but please beware that it shows 2 chillies but is quite spicy 🌶️ but would recommend along with a serving of jasmine rice ordered separately ✨
Guaytiew Nam Sai (clear noodle broth): another new dish shown on the menu and a good one if you like to have some soup with energy of the broth for a light meal option but it fills you up
It was the drinks that we feel let us down as I wanted to try their cocktails but none of the cocktails we selected were available. It was told because they were changing the menu and hence drinks weren’t available. So we ordered a Bubble Tea 🧋 and Singha Beers 🍺 - they were both refreshing.
The decor is nice but the ambiance was low probably because it was close to the last order which is at 21.30h and they shut by 22h. One of the amazing part is that they offer 20% student discount and this should make it a great option for students here in the UK.
Hope this is a useful...
Read moreMe and a friend had dinner at the Westfield branch today and it was quiet upsetting that the lady at the front didn’t even acknowledge us rather we were given 2 Menus and sat down by the door it was cold and wet and rainy. When we explained to her how we weren’t happy with the seating she told us to sit somewhere we liked. We sat at the booth at the back. we was followed by the same lady where told to move as the whole section had been reserved. Which was fine at the time we sat down ordered our starters and mains. As we were waiting for our starters our mains arrived ?! We explained that we are waiting for our starters. We was told that the food will be taken back and they will bring our starters out first which I didn’t have a problem with it can happen. What we did have an issue was we started to notice people were being seated at the booth area where we got moved from. There was a party reservation but they were seated in the middle not the booth. When our mains came back the noodles were dry because they were put in an oven or a warmer I took it home I couldn’t eat it. It tasted nice but just dry It might not be a big deal to some but for a pregnant women like me who had to sit on an uncomfortable chair freezing cold it was an issue. Over all the food is nice the only feed back would be the service and to actually look at people and greet them when they come in to your restaurant because that sets the impression from when you first walk in. I don’t think I would have noticed soo much if I got a nice...
