Disappointing and not up to the usual Rudy's standard, and very unhygienic practice on the pass!
Having visited Rudy's in Manchester and Shoreditch, I was keen to visit this new branch local to me. Went on Sunday evening, fairly quiet inside.
The edible parts of the pizzas were great, but parts of it were inedible due to being overly burned. I can accept the odd bubble here and there, but this left my partner pulling bits of the topping off from the base to avoid the burnt crust. Also, the toppings on my pizza were wrong (missing caramelised onions, and fresh green chilli instead of chilli flakes, quite a different flavour).
The service was quite odd and lacking. Initially the staff were friendly and quick to seat us, but then once our order arrived there was no check in with us. Had to call a waitress to ask for cutlery, I asked if the kitchen could slice the pizzas for us, to which I was told "there is a slicer here, you could do it yourself". Not a massive issue, but it's not fun trying to slice it with a blunt slicer on a lipped plate, when you just want to eat!
Once we finished we sat for 20 mins with no attention form staff. They left the main doors wide open on a November evening, making the restaurant cold and drafty - had to ask the staff to close the door!
In this time I noticed the guy who was working on the pass. He was gloved up from adding toppings to finish pizzas. He then started cleaning the fridges out, pulling them out and wiping inside and out with a cloth (and presumably some cleaning agent). And then, UH OH, straight back to tearing up pieces of prosciutto and other toppings to finish customers' pizzas! He did NOT change the gloves! 🤮 This is exactly why plastic gloves in catering are more often less hygienic than washed hands. They give the illusion of cleanliness when they are the opposite.
I wouldn't have minded an offer of dessert, but by this point we just wanted to get the bill and leave. Strangely, what looked like the manager on shift, was sat in a coat on the table beside us, chatting away with staff the whole time. Odd that she didn't spot the lack of service or unhygienic practices going on.
It's really a shame, as the ingredients are what can really shine at Rudy's, but here they somehow manage to go wrong. Other branches have been much better. This branch better pull its socks up before...
Read moreStarted my 71 st birthday celebrations here with girlfriends. Booking via their app was very easy and our table was easy to access when we arrived. My food allergies were addressed immediately and my vegetarian pizza was tweaked to suit my needs. I was a little shocked when the pizza arrived in an open cardboard box but it's part of an eco friendly, home from home feel where it makes it easy to transport anything you can't manage to eat in the night. Just close the box and take it home. The only downside to that is that the pizzas quickly lose heat. Perhaps they could put a piece of good old fashioned newspaper underneath to help keep it warm. The cutter they passed us was quite blunt so l ended up tearing mine into strips. Be warned these authentic Napoletana pizzas are very very filling and l won't copy my friends in future. I'll reserve a couple of slices as take away otherwise there's no room for dessert. The staff surprised me with a lovely cup of tiramisu topped with lit candles and a chorus of happy birthday. The children on the next table joined in because they thought they were singing it for their mum. We are both called Suzanne ( Suzannah). What are the chances of two parties sitting next to each other having the same name. Their mums birthday is in May. That was funny. Shout out to the location of this restaurant in eat street opposite Waitrose. It's quiet, discreet and far more relaxing than its noisier bells and whistles neighbours. If you want to be able to chat with rather than shout at your friends this is the place to come after shopping or before heading to the cinema in Westfield. Prices are reasonable. Bottles of prosecco highly...
Read moreI’m second time in this place.
I ordered coffee, salad and pizza.
Coffee was incredible.👌👌👌👌 Sometimes you order coffee and it tastes so disgusting that it’s impossible to drink, but at Rudy’s it’s so delicious. You have a great barista.
The Rocket & Parmesan salad is very refreshing and goes well with the Pizza.
I ordered the Buffalo Margherita. I’ve been there with friends recently and ordered it. I’ve tried a lot of pizza, in different places in London, but this pizza is simply superb. The most important thing in pizza is the dough. Here it just melts in your mouth. thin, with the right amount of topping. Your « Pizzaiolo » is very professional and passionate for his job . The staff is very friendly, they greet you, seat you quickly, take your order and serve the food quickly.
It’s also great that the staff is cheerful and friendly, even if you’re not in the mood and it’s been a hard day, you can relax here just by looking at how cheerful and friendly they are. Thank you guys, you are...
