A Culinary Delight at Sams Waterside: An Experience for Families at The Brentford Project.
Nestled in the heart of The Brentford Project, Sams Waterside is a place where exquisite flavours, exceptional service, as well as a warm, inviting atmosphere, combine to create an enchanting dining experience.
I recently had the pleasure of dining here with my family, and from beginning to end, the experience was absolutely wonderful. It was a pleasure to be greeted so warmly by Tomasz, whose impeccable service continued throughout the evening. We were made to feel right at home by him, who offered thoughtful recommendations and made sure that every detail of our meal was perfect.
To start the evening off right, we indulged in a selection of dishes that really set the stage. The Waterside Focaccia arrived fresh and warm, paired perfectly with Extra Virgin Olive Oil. We enjoyed the Babaganoush, which was silky and rich, enhanced by a burst of sweetness from the pomegranate, as well as the crunch from the Sardinian Crisp Bread. Portland Crab Toast stood out for its freshness and the delicate balance of flavours that complemented it. However, we were really impressed by the Charred Oyster Mushroom & Hispi Skewers. The skewers were marinated in Tamari and spiced with Aleppo Chilli and left us wanting more smoky, umami-rich bite that sparked our appetites.
My anticipation grew as we proceeded to the main course, a dish that exemplified simplicity as well as elegance. I chose the Whole Butterflied Seabass, a dish that exemplified simplicity and elegance at its best. My wife and son ordered the Native Lobster Linguine, which was nothing short of spectacular, with the garlic, herbs, and lemon butter enhancing the natural flavours without overwhelming them.
The fish was perfectly cooked, tender and juicy. A perfect combination of Chilli, Garlic, and Lemon was added to the linguine, which was cooked to perfection, elevating the sweetness of the lobster with a zesty brightness. As the final bite of our meal, we indulged in two desserts which were an excellent end to the perfect meal.
My wife's Original Bean 70% Cru Virunga Chocolate Mousse was delicious, smooth and decadent, and the honeycomb added a delightful crunch to the mousse. I found the Lemon Posset to be a refreshing choice, combining the tartness of the lemon with the sweetness of the Blueberries and the crumbly texture of the Thyme Shortbread to create a perfectly balanced dish.
Sam's Waterside has a wonderful ambience to it too. With its tasteful decor and serene views, it is a great place to enjoy a meal with loved ones as well as sample a few mocktails, each of which was as refreshing and flavorful as the food itself. Sams Waterside at The Brentford Project is the perfect destination for any foodie looking to enjoy a memorable dining experience, as well as for families. With excellent service, delectable dishes, and a cosy atmosphere, it's a place I'd highly recommend to both foodies...

After a soft launch, we went for Sunday lunch. It wasn’t too busy, but it was not a great meal. The server was very new a struggled to understand the concept of a Virgin Bloody Mary. They came with two pots of Parmesan Churros when we only order one (we only paid for one in the end) we both had a starter of fried Artichoke, saffron and roasted garlic aioli. The aioli was really sharp and drowned the flavours of anything else on the plate.
We ordered a nut roast which was stodgy and a Roast Beef, which when served was tepid and had to be sent back. They took my food away so my husband ate on his own until my plate was returned. The did come over to apologise but no offer to take something off the bill or a glass of wine which was disappointing.
Expensive and needs to do very much better.
SECOND VISIT A MONTH LATER FOR SUNDAY LUNCH
We with a group of friends and started with the oysters which were lovely but yet again when the main dishes arrived most were tepid. At least 3 of a party of 7 returned their roast meals they others were hungry and decided to eat theirs despite it not being hot. When the food came back it was good. Just a shame this happened for the second time. One person had the Trout which the said was very good. On this occasion they did credit us with the cost of the main dishes sent back.
I also don't get the Apple Pie for 2 at £14 being served with one scoop of ice cream - we nearly had an ice cream war on our hands.
Sadly I don’t think any of us will return given...
Read moreWe went to Sam's Riverside 5-6 times in 6 months after 'discovering' it. Now we are so delighted that he's opened a 2nd beautifully sited restaurant within view of our flat in Brentford, Sam's Waterside. We snapped up lunchtime tables for 6 on successive days during their soft opening and our first one was today, with 4 long time friends from Kew. We had a lovely long lunch, with really delicious food and delightful staff in a warm and buzzy setting. Everything is beautifully appointed. Sam was there, making sure everything is working.
It's still soft opening training time and there was a wait for our mains. But the reason was that something was not right, and needed redoing. They gave us a complementary bottle of red, which made the wait into a positive time to catch up, chatting with friends from way back. The soft opening deal was half price food, and that let us really go for whatever we wanted, eg wonderful octopus starters. It was all really good, and the friend to my left said her beetroot starter was the best starter she's ever had, it certainly looked beautiful. We'll be back with different friends tomorrow. What a wonderful new asset for Brentford!
A year on and Sam's is a firm favourite and we visit quite often. Wonderful food, staff...
