Awful food, overpriced and stingy portions . The mixed vegetable rice wasn't hot, the rice was dry and without any sauce, and the very few vegetables in it seemed like something you'd get from a frozen veg packet (broccoli, carrot, peas). The mixed seafood rice is an even bigger disappointment- its basically the mixed vegetable rice with one or two pathetic looking prawns in it and also tiny portion. The muscles in it tasted bad. The steamed buns were hard on the outside and wet at the bottom as they'd clearly been in the steamer for too long. The only good thing was the fried tofu but it's no consolation for how disappointing the rest of the meal was. Condiments weren't even provided on the table and we had to ask for them. Had we not been so hungry we would've left the food. To top it all off the vibe here is quite dead. Never coming here again and warning everyone else...
Read moreI ordered hot & sour soup, sweet & sour prawns and vegetable noodles for delivery. The hot & sour soup was somewhat edible but the other dishes were definitely nowhere near edible or worth their price. I ordered from this place based on the many good reviews other people left but I was so very disappointed. The sweet & sour prawns didn't even taste like they were made with sweet and sour sauce, they tasted rubbery and bland. The noodles tasted really weird, as though made with ingredients that are cheap and/or not fresh. I immediately threw the prawns and noodles away after the first taste of each dish. I don't know how others left a good review for this restaurant, perhaps they ordered dishes that taste much better or the quality of this restaurant's food was much better before (or these people don't know at all what good Chinese food...

Sanbao is the most authentic Chinese restaurant I've ever been to. The variety is vast, with more unfamiliar dishes than you would expect to see on a standard westernised Chinese menu.
The taste is unique on the dishes I had. And the portions are generous. The two of us usually get the dumplings main course as a starter to share. The dumplings have nice texture and the broth and pork complement each other perfectly.
The presentation of the food and crockery selection is unique. Last time I tried the pork intestine with the chilli sauce (not for the faint hearted). The dish was served in a large decorated bowl. The dish was fairly light with just the right level of spice.
If you like the Chinese food you are used to, or want to try something authentic and new then Sanbao is the...
