TLDR: They need spicy salsas, there is not aguachile or Mexican Ceviche in the menu. They have Peruvian style Ceviche though, pretty tasty. Good vibes from the place. Good coconut margarita as well. - I came here because I saw online someone mentioned they had aguachile (a dish made of shrimp, submerged in liquid seasoned with chili peppers, lime juice, salt, cilantro, slices of cucumber and onion). They have in their menu Prawn Ceviche Rojo (that's what it was confised with aguachile). Their dish was very tasty, just a bit sweet (I blame the apple they have included in their recipe), however, it resembles Peruvian Ceviche not Mexican Ceviche. Mexican Ceviche has very fined shopped tomatoes, onions, cucumber, coriander and chilies combined with lime juice, tomato juice (like kermato) and avocado. I tried the baby potato flautas as well, they were tasty but they really needed a good spicy salsa. When I asked for a more spicy salsa they gave me a bit of salsa that comes from a bottle (Cholula style), the one you use for snacks normally. The vibe of the place is great though, it does remind me of the posh neighbourhoods from Mexico City (like Roma). The staff is super nice and they do try to make you enjoy it. Advice, offer mayonnaise and the Cholula style salsa when people order anything related to sea food. Hope they improve their salsa, a few changes here and there and this place could feel like a Mexican place, sadly I didn't get the vibe "I'm at home" (yet) that I've gotten with other restaurants.

My husband and I have been looking for a good Mexican restaurant in London since we've moved here from New York 8 years ago. We pretty much gave up until we stumbled upon Santo Remedio a couple months ago by chance and was able to be seated at the bar! We came back with reservations tonight and it was just as good as our first dining experience. I have a gluten allergy and Mexican food in the UK is often all made with flour tortillas. Not here! Everything, including the quesadillas, are made with 100% corn tortillas. I could even get the Baja Fish tacos which I haven't had since discovering my allergy a decade ago. Our favourites are the tuna tostada and the pork tacos 😋 the pork ones are so good that we normally get seconds. We spoke to our lovely server who informed us that they have a larger restaurant in London Bridge with a bigger menu. We'll be trying that one soon! Thanks for bringing authentic Mexican food to the city!!

A fun casual restaurant in the heart of the city. We had an early reservation and yet the whole restaurant was quickly filled. The cocktail was delicious with great sour and creamy balance. Our waitress was friendly and attentive without being over bearing. She ensured we understood the menu and gave some good recommendations. We ate guacamole with chips, ceviche, soft shell crab taco, pork belly taco and cactus and hibiscus quesadilla. Everything was exquisite and close to traditional Mexican food. It was my first time trying cactus and hibiscus in a meal and I loved it. The pork was melt in your mouth and the guacamole was fresh. The only real let down was the tres leches which was very hard and dense. It felt like it was kept in the fridge too long and not allowed to come to room temp, but also it hadnt soaked up the creamy sauce, so this was not a true reflection of the actual dessert. However I would still return.

Tanita served us.

Now I am a difficult person to please.

We walked in, my partner and I asked for a table and we were pointed to a table close to the bar.

Tanita was friendly and welcoming but without being over the top or fake. It was a case of sit down, quick run through the small (But very good) menu including the specials and be advised that the kitchen was due to close, we did walk in close to the end of service.

I really tend to prefer that approach to service - walk in, sit, say what you want, eat, nice little chat at the end and go. And Tanita was very nice and chatty for a bit after the meal but thats probably because I tidied the table afterwards! I did not have to, its just that I hate mess! :-)

One thing I hate and notice when I am out ordering anywhere is if a service is disorganized but this place runs like a very well oiled machine. Top marks for service!

Now the food - Food came out promptly AND it was delicious, all of it. I personally recommend the Soft Shell Crab Tacos. Oh my word I loved these, and if you like a bit of heat but without the heat being overbearing then these are a must try.

All three dishes my partner and I shared really were delicious, full of flavour and generous.

It's a really cute little place half way between Shoreditch and Old Street which is great as I only work around the corner so I will definitely be back for lunch and I am going to bring my friends and colleagues too!

To Tanita and your colleagues - well done! We really enjoyed ourselves and we will definitely be back for more - including trying the London Bridge branch for dinner...

I have mixed feelings about this restaurant. It looks cute from the outside. We had a booking for 3 people and initially they seated us on 2 tiny round tables side by side which we weren’t happy about. Luckily we were able to move to another table by accepting to leave the restaurant earlier. The drinks were ok but none of us were convinced they had 50ml of tequila in each glass. They charge £1 for making your cocktail ‘spicy’. I tried both the regular and the spicy margarita and the only difference was the single slice of jalapeño floating on the drink. Tajin on the rim of the regular margarita was actually spicier than the jalapeño. The food was tasty. We tried 6-7 dishes. One plate of taco is actually filling for one. Portion of guacamole was exactly 3 tablespoons which I found very little. You can order 3 tacos instead of 2 per portion which makes it easier to share. The worst part was the heat. It was a hot day and the restaurant didn’t seem to take any precautions. AC seemed to be on but it clearly wasn’t working. Customers and servers were fanning themselves with the menus. Overall I didn’t like the attitude of our waiter and we couldn’t wait to finish our food and get out of there. I won’t be going back any time soon, certainly not...
