We came here on the recommendation of one of people that we attended with, who unfortunately finds raising issues in venues quite uncomfortable hence we were annoyingly were not allowed to raise any issues with the staff.
The food at this Italian restaurant was nothing short of abysmal - bland, overpriced, poorly presented and poorly cooked.
To start we were given a bowl of dry, crumbly bread that seemed to be a few days old.
Two of us then had the king scallops to start and what was put in front of us vaguely resembled a school dinner, sloppily slashed together with absolutely no care for any form of presentation whatsoever. Three untrimmed, anaemic scallops along with some lukewarm, very clearly batch made/defrosted sauce sloshing around underneath, a couple of slices of chilli and a 'side salad' that consisted of filling the rest of the plate. This could all be forgiven if the scallops were to cooked to perfection and left us clambering for more. However, they were chewy, rubbery, full of sinew and devoid of any sort of taste at all. Think ice hockey pucks on a plate with chilli sauce.
It wasn't just the two scallop dishes that were poor starters. Another on our table (who recommended Sergio's) had the minestrone soup which was similarly presented to the scallops; spilt all over the edge of the bowl and seemed to lack any sort of seasoning at all and was therefore incredibly bland.
I then had a pizza, which I thought would be a pretty safe bet, but again it was just absolute rubbish on a plate. I picked up the outside of the pizza to confirm what my eyes suspected and the middle of the pizza completely fell through as it was so soggy.
Another on our table had the scotch sirloin steak which weirdly was presented with the steak completely sliced horizontally through the middle. It was tender but dry hence I suspect was pre frozen and cut in this way to assist cooking.
Another guest had the Portobello mushroom vegan option. 3 medium sized mushrooms on a plate with some side salad for £17.
Disgusting prices and appalling food, clearly living off former fame.
Add all this to the tacky, red glowing décor and flashing plastic shot glasses and it was really an experience to forget. The staff were friendly enough but weren't attentive by any means. You couldn't pay me to go back to...
Read moreWe walked in just before they opened today. This was not an issue. Welcomed and served immediately. Nothing was too much bother. Great looking restaurant. Interesting. And SO clean, including the bathrooms. I could not fault it. Silver service. White table cloths. We sat outside. It is a quiet street so not a lot of traffic, in fact, I don't think one car went past. A few bikes and walkers. Nice to sit and watch the world go by. You don't have to eat, just a drink, coffee, or dessert maybe. They have a canopy, throws/blankets and heaters if required but we did not need them as it was a lovely Spring day. An excellent menu selection and happy to add or take away any ingredient. All made fresh it seems. Chef(s) were the best I have experienced for a very long time. Excellent service (I never tip but this time, no hesitation) Lovely staff. Very professional but very human. Understood the importance of your enjoyment there. Food was amazing. The tastes. Everything. I ate it all. I even had a dessert and I never have dessert. Lots of extras, bread sticks, bread, oil, balsamic, biscuit with coffee, chocolate with the bill. No rushing you but they kept an eye on when you and finished and removed any dirty plates etc. I don't know why they do not have an award for this or last year, even a Michelin star, yes, that good! All round, excellence. I could not fault it and I moan about most things, especially if I am paying. This is my new favourite restaurant. I am glad I do not live nearby or I would be, curvier and poorer 😄 It the kind of place I would just sit with my pet outside having a starters and wine, or coffee and dessert, and taking friends and family for a lunch or dinner treat. Im still talking about it this evening, and I rarely leave reviews, especially good ones. Was worried about leaving an honest review as want to keep this restaurant to my self and hope they never become a chain. Go, enjoy, you will not be disappointed. I am going back for my Birthday. Thank you Sergio's for my daughter and my lunch today. Keep up...

I chose Sergio's for the celebration of my 50th birthday. Since the first contact by telephone talking to Costas, the level of empathy, flexibility, client-first approach, was outstanding. I had a large booking with 37 people, and the booking process was simple, uncomplicated and Costas put me at ease, trusting my booking and I was so happy that I could honour it without any cancellation from my guests. On the day of the party, it was time for the other brother, Sergio, to shine. What an effort!!! He treated us as if we were long time friends, extremely organised and skilled to deal with such a large group including small children during the 4 hours that we spent there. The food was top notch, fresh and delicious as you would expect if you were visiting Italy. The children had freedom to play around and Sergio made sure that they were entertained with music and giving a very personal touch to deal with them. I can't be grateful enough because these guys had no obligation to provide such a special service to me and my guests but they went above and beyond making my milestone celebration a night to remember. At the end of the night, apart from the usual congratulations, what I heard most from my guests was the question "how did you find this place?", which I believe speaks volumes about the level of service we received during the party. Costas and Sergio, thank you very very much, you guys are superstars and I'll never forget this night, thank you for helping making...
