Cold Kababs and Hot Tandoori Chicken? A Disastrous Dining Experience at Sonargaon Restaurant Whitechapel
Rating: ★☆☆☆☆ (1/5)
I recently had the unfortunate experience of dining at Sonargaon Restaurant in Whitechapel, and I must say it was nothing short of disappointing. I had high hopes for this establishment, but sadly, my expectations were shattered by the unacceptable quality of the food they served.
Upon entering the restaurant, I was greeted with a pleasant ambiance and friendly staff, which gave me some initial hope for a satisfying meal. However, that hope quickly faded as soon as the food arrived at my table.
The first shock came when the "hot" Tandoori chicken was served. It was far from being hot; instead, it was lukewarm at best. The chicken pieces seemed like they had been sitting around for a while, losing all their moisture and tenderness. The taste was bland, lacking the traditional Tandoori flavors that I was eagerly looking forward to.
But that wasn't the worst part. The kababs that were supposed to accompany the chicken were served in a separate dish, and to my utter disbelief, they were stone cold! It was as if they had forgotten to heat them altogether or just carelessly put them on the plate without any consideration for temperature. Cold, dry, and tasteless - that's how I would describe those kababs.
I brought this issue to the attention of the server, hoping for a prompt resolution or perhaps a replacement. Unfortunately, the staff didn't seem to be concerned about the problem at all. They offered a half-hearted apology and merely shrugged it off, leaving me with the inedible and unappetizing food in front of me.
The disappointment didn't stop there. The side dishes that came with the meal were equally underwhelming. The naan bread was doughy and seemed reheated, and the rice lacked any distinct flavor or aroma that is typical of a good Indian restaurant.
To make matters worse, the prices at Sonargaon Restaurant are not exactly budget-friendly. I wouldn't have minded paying a premium for a delightful culinary experience, but what I got instead was a slap in the face.
In conclusion, my visit to Sonargaon Restaurant Whitechapel was an absolute letdown. Cold kababs paired with lukewarm Tandoori chicken and lackluster sides made for an unsatisfying meal that I wouldn't wish upon anyone. The restaurant's disregard for quality and customer satisfaction is evident, and I cannot recommend this place to anyone seeking an authentic and enjoyable dining experience. Save your time and money and look elsewhere for a truly delightful...
Read moreThis afternoon after I had visited the East London Mosque with my kids in the way back to whitechapel station I saw this eatery and questioned my kids if they felt peckish; they replied in the affirmative.
We then went in was not invited to be seated and from the onset was made to feel out of place in the predominantly Bangladeshi restaurant although I am Pakistani, maybe that was the reason of their conduct towards me an my kids; we ordered three Samosa chaats and pani puri (gol gappea), to our surprise when the chaats came along the were garnished with an emence amount of green chillis, I requested if these could be taken off as my kids may not be able consume such spicy food although they have a reasonable appetite for the same.
The server started shouting "give me money give me money", I bemused took out a £20.00 note. I then proceeded to the counter hoping that better sense will prevail at a postion os authority however, when I reached therr and explained the circumstances that we had not taken spoon in to our mouths or even infavt touched it yet we had been treated in this way.
I isaid that the matter is not about money rather service, the health of my children and some good old fashioned respect. Anyhow I paid the money for the food we never touched and without an apology he at the counter took the money.
I very upset left the restaurant with my kids 11 and 12 years old. Walking away we decdied to go back and at least get our receipt, initially they did not want to give.
Very bad and upsetting experience. I am in two minds to complain to treading standards. As this is a breach of sale...
Read moreGood food but meat Birani is not upto standard. Meat bona is tasty but includes lots of fats and oil. The waters hardy smile and never complimented with a free cup of tea. Most of the Indian restaurant owners must know that a customer brings min 100 new customers he recommends to 10 and these 10 recommends 10 this way , the taste of foods. Customer services spreads to thousands...this is the achievement every restaurant owner must bear in mind. Sitting arrangement was not very good. We visited this restaurant in last Ramadan. The food was so tasty and that taste brought us back to this modernised version of sonargaon restaurant. But that taste was not there anymore most likely reason is the change of the last chef. Lots of restaurant owners do not understand the economics of wages to the staff. Say for example the chef wants an increase in wages by an amount A The owner should pay A and make a contract for 2 yrs no increase in wages . So by this agreement the restaurant keeps it honour n respect. And above all the Kings are happy ( in any selling book the Kings are those without them the restaurant will be closed down...they are the customers). I hope my idea and analysis will help the restaurant make good money and I hope the owners pay some part of wxtra income to charity. Best regards mahmood fca tax experts. 1st...
