Popped in on a Friday afternoon for some lunch. Fish Friday so naturally ordered he fish and chips with mushy peas. The fish was amazing! Was very tasty and flaky, great crisp batter. Also had an Americano, was disappointed they didn't have sweetener, only sugar but was a nice cuppa. Tried the jam rolly polly WOW! I would go back for even just a nice coffee and the rolly polly, it is awesome and so glad I tried it! Sat in the back beer garden area as it was a nice day, nice and relaxed. Staff were friendly and attentive. We've been here before, usually with our dog and we won't hesitate to keep frequenting the place when we can. Two main dish lunches were on special for 14.99 add 1.50 for fish and chips....makes it an affordable lunch! Vegetarian/vegan options available. David Bowie held his wedding reception at this pub! Only fix I would make is to have sweeteners for people's tea/coffee and also maybe add sweet potato fries? Although I did enjoy my chips.
Visited again 26th of November for a bit of a late lunch. What more to say? Jam rolly Polly remains not to be missed! And the fish in chips is an amazing piece of cod, delicious totally recommend it. Rocking Rudolph is a great seasonal beer, give it a try! Rab, the main server (or at least it's the guy who we seem to always get) is amazing! He will make your visit to the pub memorable and goes out of his way to make you happy. Noticed too while we were there, they are offering a 4 course dinner on Christmas Day for 51.99quid!! Not a bad idea, definitely tempting. Will we be...
Read morePub itself was nice and prices reasonable. Don't bother trying to go for a friendly game of pool with friends on a busy night though. The regulars control the show and when we put our money down and waited our turn, they told us it was winner stays on and we had to play against them. They claimed it was "pub rules." No cues available, only with a £5 bar deposit. That was fair enough. But the locals who were swarming the table were aggressive and controlling and refused to let us play a friendly game unless we beat them off the table with our own money. All middle aged men who stood around and eyed us all as we tried to play a game. It made for a very hostile environment and we promptly left. A shame because there aren't too many good pubs in Bromley for a quiet game of pool. The owners ought to do something about that. It felt like the minority of pub goers owned the table when we had paid for the game and our own drinks. Very...
Read moreI am a notorious food critic. I hate eating out as I'm always disappointed. I wasn't this time! The menu is very poor for vegetarians and vegans, unfortunately. So I had the fish and chips and my friend had the katsu chicken dish - and we were both very impressed. The only downside was that the malted bread they sent out with the meal wasn't buttered, having butter pats placed on top, and so the bread dried very quickly. Costs were reasonable, coming in at £18 for the two meals (they do two meals for £15 but the fish & chips adds an additional £3 charge). The staff were very friendly, the place had quite a nice buzz as the evening wore on (a Friday) though was very quiet when we arrived for food, and the building itself is a nice traditional 'old-style' pub, with screens for sport.
Forgot to take pics so you'll just have to take my word that it's good eating and a nice atmosphere, and worth paying a visit. I will...
