Kai possesses an impressive knowledge of the extensive drink menu, which includes an array of craft beers, wines, and creative cocktails. He was more than willing to share his recommendations based on my preferences, demonstrating an understanding of flavors and pairings that truly enhanced my experience. His passion for mixology was evident as he crafted my cocktail with precision, taking the time to explain the ingredients and the story behind the drink.
What stood out most about Kai was his attentiveness. He effortlessly balanced serving multiple customers while ensuring that everyone felt valued and attended to. No matter how busy the bar got, he always had a smile on his face and a friendly word for everyone. It was clear that he genuinely enjoyed his work and took pride in providing excellent service.
Additionally, Kai was proactive in checking in on my table throughout the evening. He made sure my drink was never empty and was quick to offer suggestions for food pairings, which I greatly appreciated. His recommendations were spot on, and he even took the time to highlight some of the pub’s signature dishes, enriching my overall dining experience.
The atmosphere at the Greyhound was lively, and Kai played a significant role in contributing to that vibrancy. His interactions with other patrons were friendly and engaging, creating a sense of community that made the pub feel like a home away from home. He remembered names and faces, which added a personal touch to the experience.

Read moreThe hygiene was poor, the atmosphere was bleak and the service was non-existent.
For what looked like a nice enough building we were moved to a nice looking area with a fake bookcase, the chairs were wobbly and dirty and the tables were sticky, with far too many magazines advertising events or drinks, some of which were damp, all were sticky...
My family and I waited for service for about 10 minutes before deciding that we had no choice but to download an app to our phone if we wanted to eat at all today. The menu was a typical Spoons, nothing fancy. I ordered a loosely named “gourmet burger”, my partner had a steak with fries. It is always 50/50 when ordering steak but as long as it had a bit of pink in the middle she would be fine. We waited for quite a while just for our drinks, it dawned on us that we shouldn’t have used the app if we wanted a strongbow and a few Pepsis any time soon. When they arrived, one of the Pepsi’s had a long hair that definitely didn’t belong to me, but the waiter was keen to replace this in about 10 minutes.
My burger eventually came wrapped in tin foil, so naturally I felt like an idiot when I carefully touched it to check how hot it was only to find that it was completely cold and only the patty inside was lukewarm. I couldn’t be bothered to kick up a fuss, I’ve probably had worse burgers. I asked for cheddar cheese instead of American as a £1 extra option but that clearly was lost in translation by the awful app.
My partner’s steak arrived, bearing in mind she had asked for medium, this steak was very well done. Unfortunately not in a good way. We asked for another steak that was less thoroughly cooked, the waitress obliged and took the plate, chips and all, away! My partner sat with no food for a quarter of an hour while we all worked our way through our dinners. Her steak came while we were all just finished. It was worse than the original, too tough to cut through... the waitress offered her a free dessert instead but we just said no, the waitress walked away and we couldn’t get her attention again as it felt like she was actively avoiding eye contact with us, we eventually went to the bar to get a refund. As we left, there was another old lady complaining about her burned steak, and so the cycle begins anew, good...
