Sanxia Restaurant Review
Sanxia in Bromley serves up a true taste of Sichuan in mega portions that had me both delighted and defeated in the best possible way! If you’re someone who craves big, bold flavors that can leave you tingling with spice yet can adjust a meal for a tiny human’s palate, Sanxia is the place for you.
The Ambiance and Arrival Stepping into Sanxia feels like you’ve hit the jackpot of Bromley’s restaurant scene. The decor is charming, and while it’s buzzing, it still maintains a cozy, family-friendly vibe. Parking isn’t a hassle; there are several spots nearby, which is a total blessing.
Food: Flavours that Pack a Punch! The mains come in mega portions, which honestly deserves to be plastered on the front door as a selling point! Each dish arrived like a superstar, with vibrant colors and aromas that made my taste buds tingle before the first bite. The spice levels are wonderfully customizable, so whether you’re a spice warrior or need a gentler introduction, the kitchen has you covered.
I loved how each bite felt authentic – rich, robust, and unapologetically packed with Sichuan magic. From sizzling, spicy pork dishes to milder, but still flavorful, stir-fried vegetables, every item was infused with that unmistakable “Sanxia zing.” And it’s not just spice for the sake of heat; these flavors are deep, layered, and well-balanced.
Kid-Friendly Dining Now, if you’re dining with kids, Sanxia gets major points. It’s hard enough to get kids excited about trying new foods, let alone anything with a little bit of heat. The staff was on it, though – they whipped up kid-friendly versions of dishes so that my little ones were happily munching away without any of the fiery spice but with all the good flavors.
Dessert: The Pumpkin Pancake And let’s talk about dessert! You don’t often find yourself drooling over pumpkin, right? But Sanxia’s pumpkin pancake is a standout – it’s sweet, warm, and has this delightful chewy texture that leaves you wondering why pumpkin hasn’t always been a dessert star. It’s unique, comforting, and just the right amount of indulgent. Do yourself a favor and save room for it!
Friendly and Attentive Service The cherry on top of this experience? The wonderful staff. They were attentive without being overbearing, happy to adjust spice levels and answer questions with a smile. You feel like they genuinely want you to have a good time, and it makes the whole dining experience a breeze.
Final Verdict Whether you’re on a mission for a spice-filled adventure or just want a family-friendly place with portions that guarantee no one leaves hungry, Sanxia is a must-visit. With its flavor-packed plates, unique dessert, and friendly vibes, it’s an experience that deserves more than just a visit; it deserves to be a regular in your dining rotation. So grab a friend, bring an appetite, and don’t forget to order the...
Read moreI have been to this restaurant 4 times now, and 3 out of the 4 times the service has been atrocious. Tonight however was the worst.
It is not uncommon to receive zero friendliness from the staff in this restaurant, and so when I received none from the man who took our food order (Aaron), I didn't think much of it. Our food arrived quickly - all except one dish that took about 20-25 mins to arrive. When the dish arrived, it was roast duck (what we had ordered was BBQ 2 ways).
When I mentioned this to our server, he asked what we ordered. I asked him to bring the menu over. Seeming annoyed, he brought it over, and I pointed to the BBQ 2 ways. He then rudely said that we have to say which meat 2 meats we want. I asked how come he didn't mention this at the point of order, and he said we need to decide it now. I told him that I didn't want the food anymore (as we had almost finished the rest of the meal), and he took the duck away and strutted off, clearly with a rude undertone.
When we asked for the bill (to the person behind the bar) they had kindly applied a 4 pound discount to the bill. The rude server delivered the bill to us, and I noticed there had been a coke on the bill, which we never ordered. I brought this to the rude server's attention and took this opportunity to express our displeasure at how he had spoken to us all evening. He sarcastically made a bow at us, which further emphasised the fact that he was plain old rude!
Next the bill came from the rude server (without the coke), but also he had rudely removed the discount that the bar man had given us.
I could go on, but ultimately this man - who apparently is called Aaron and who apparently is a manager at this establishment, truly has to be the worst server I've experienced. I don't expect much from this restaurant in the way of service, but this was bad enough to warrant a 1 star review on...
Read moreThis was ordered over the internet as Deliveroo Order. Really disappointing. We had one of the set meals for 2. The starter of spring rolls were the worst we have ever had. Instead of being a light flaky batter, the batter was too thickly applied. The result was crispy on the outside but soggy under-cooked batter inside so we did not eat them. They were also very thin with little filling. Usually we go for egg fried rice but only plain boiled rice was offered with the set meal and this was tasteless and boring. The best part of the meal was the sweet and sour chicken which was very tasty, but the BBQ meat was not what we expected. We ordered duck and pork. Duck was ok but dry and not very tasty. The pork was bone in and chopped into small pieces (rather expected ribs). So in order to make sure we did not choke on bone fragments we had to eat this with our fingers (very messy!). The pork was also provided dry. There were two pots of thin sauce provided which were reasonably tasty but they did not coat the meat as they were so thin and watery. The reviews on line were really good so we wonder if the usual chef...
