Absolutely LOVED Terra Moderna: the ambiance and most importantly the high quality, healthy and delicious food. The entire dining experience felt like a great treat to senses. We had dinner my family and friends, we are all foodies and have great appreciation for food that is prepared with good quality fresh ingredients, skill, imagination and love. And, of course, aesthetics is part of the enjoyment of the meal. We all devoured every single meal we ordered in Terra Moderna and were very happy to have discovered this gem. We ordered the squid, the heritage tomato salad, the octopus carpaccio, saffron arancini for starters and for mains, the beef ragu pappardelle, the Cornish Cod, seafood stew, gnocchi with a selection of sides. It felt like a celebration of beautiful, delicious food and no wonder, we were told that the chefs were trained/worked in Michelin restaurants. This is in fact my first online review of a restaurant, most of the time we leave restaurants feeling underwhelmed, but Terra Moderna from the first visit became our most favorite restaurant in London. My taste buds have a vivid memory of all the wonderful flavours, and the deserts, the chocolate mouse, that was just divine... I hope the restaurant staff get to see my review, I just want to say - thank you for all the love and passion you put in your creations and service. We shall be back! For newcomers, the restaurants is suitable for grown-ups as well as children. The waiter actually kindly offered to prepare some things for the kids that were not even on the menu, but our children preferred to stick to the options in the menu - they were super pleased with the gnocchi and the pappardelle...
Read moreI was very excited to try this restaurant since we live right next to it. With 4.9-star reviews on Google, I was ready for an amazing meal… but unfortunately, it was very underwhelming.
First, the ambiance felt a little strange—everything was grey with warm white lighting. I guess it’s a style, just not my taste, but it gave off a somewhat sad atmosphere. Adding to that, the staff weren’t very warm, barely smiled, and the music was quite loud for a restaurant.
Secondly, the food… it was average at best, nothing special. The crispy squid wasn’t crispy and lacked seasoning, my beef tartare was good, and the pasta were lukewarm and unremarkable. No Parmesan was offered with the beef ragu parppadelle, and the side of potatoes tasted (and looked) more boiled than roasted,(though the manager did take it off the bill when we complained).
On a positive note, the wine selection was good, and the prices were reasonable. I appreciated that sides were around £6 (some places charge £12 these days). The complimentary focaccia with tapenade was probably the highlight of the meal.
I won’t be going back, but it’s an okay restaurant - nothing incredible,...
Read moreMy partner and I had dinner at Terra Moderna on Saturday night.
We loved it! The food and service were both exceptional.
We ordered the arancini to start and they were perfect. Exactly what you what - good crispy outer layer, the rice inside was just the right warmth and texture and the cheese at the centre perfectly gooey.
We then had the truffle pasta which was delicious also. The truffle flavour was subtle without being overbearing, the pasta perfectly cooked.
Next we had the pollo milanesa which we also both loved. The chicken was tender and the pomodoro that it came with was tangy and fresh.
In the interest of full disclosure, they brought the pasta and the milanesa in the wrong sequence - the milanesa arrived before the pasta. But the floor manager acknowledged the mistake straight away and rectified things immediately. The instant rectification of the error enhanced the overall experience in both our opinions.
The dining space was well arranged, nicely lit and with a pleasant atmosphere. We had a wonderful experience and will be back...
