Worst pub-food that I have eaten ever. Just walked out the door, wanted to try something else, so we went there. Reviews weren't bad so far, place looked nice on the pictures in the internet... We should have gotten out there, when nobody else was in, but we thought let's give it a chance. I had fish and chips (what can you possibly do wrong?????) And my !other the "Cajun" chicken. Hers was just dry and the "seasonal salad" were nothing more than just a few greens, tomatoes and onions, without dressing and and old salad leave that somebody else must have eaten before. The fish and chips was the WORST that I've ever seen in my life Convenience food straight out of the freezer into the (cold) deep fryer. Seriously disgusting. This really ruined our whole London weekend, even though we've eaten really good on the neighbouring surroundings (try king street in hammersmith not too far away). N.e.v.e.r. will visit this place again. Prices we're way too much, even if the food would have been alright. Staff was not trained at all (if a pub bar tender is asked for and IPA and never heard of it before...) When she took our plates she did not even ask if everything as alright. She probably knew why. Sorry, can't recommend that place. Take a loooooong...
Read moreIts a nice traditional pub, with traditional wood tables sitting 10 guys maybe, wooden benches. Slightly more modern seating for couples near the fireplace.I
Late night pub, for those in the know, is almost 3 different places...
Around 6 pm weekdays, loads of suited salaried workers, overflowing to the street outside. I avoid it then, its a meat market!
In summer months, touristy, good choice for lunches and early dinner. Pizza or old English pub fare pretty good. Also Thai pretty good.
Around 9pm or later, our Hammersmith chess club matches end up there till half 12 (midnight), all year round. We can even play chess there, we keep a set there or two. Don't forget, the London Chess Classic is right near there at Olympia.
In winter, brilliant fireplace lit most nights. Ok fake roaring coals, but very warm and realistic (electric). Might be real wood burning sometimes.
Sports tv good, but hardly ever on for sports, mainly on for calamitous news. Upstairs nice room for 30 or 40 people, all newish video setup. No in-room bar service, but you can sit and have meetings with drinks/food from the...
Read moreWent for lunch here, accidentally ordered a chicken burger rather than a veggie burger. Tried to correct it 30 seconds later (hadn’t even sat back down when the mistake was noticed) and the sour faced woman at the bar angrily refused, shouting at my friend from across the bar. When we inquired as to why, as the order had just been placed, she told us we could leave and eat elsewhere. Okay then. Clearly hospitality is not their thing here.
UPDATE The woman decided she didn’t like this review and came out to swear at us, have a foul mouthed rant, and demand we leave. I have never been treated so poorly. This is shocking behaviour from someone in the service industry and this woman ought to be fired.
2nd UPDATE As we were leaving, she felt the need to swear at us some more. This was an awful lot of cursing and unnecessary drama over asking to amend an order. Even if it wasn’t possible, saying so politely would have avoided this whole situation. Reading other reviews telling customers to leave seems to be a pattern at this establishment. Do yourself a favour and don’t bother going in the...
