This place is only good for a pint.
We made a reservation a fortnight ago, listing that our group of 6 would Benin for dinner, told this was ok we headed in. None of the ‘new menu’ was available as they had no cook working. The ‘old menu’ therefore consisted of what I can assume was reheated food, sure tasted like it.
Ordering was a pain, they seemed disinterested and unhelpful, obviously as they were having troubles meeting our tables orders, despite taking the booking.
The place was basically empty mind you.
We finished our meal all agreeing that it was basic at best, interrupted by a suspiciously timed fire alarm going off, leaving never to return again.

Read moreI work next to The Apple Tree and recently we been going to get something to eat after work as we got told the food is really good. I'm rating so low for the awful service. Staff is always outside smoking so there is no one to order a drink from, no one clear the tables which makes it very uncomfortable when eating as it's full of glasses, dirty napkins and pizza boards. The cherry on the cake is a French woman always shouting at me and my friends. Read moreI go to the Apple Tree occasionally for meetings in the recently refurbished upstairs room, which now has portraits on the walls of famous locals, including Karl Marx who lived nearby, Lenin, who edited Iskra in the Marx Memorial Library a few hundred yards away and who lived locally also (yes, this area is a hotbed of revolutionary strategising); others of note are C.
