A bar that does some of the hard things well (e.g.beer selection) and some of the easy things terribly (serving pints, rather than 2/3rds at pint prices as some bizarre novelty), surly uninterested service, hinged tables that swivel if you touch them (what could possibly go wrong?) and insufficient space to swing a mouse, let alone a cat. Everything that's wrong with the "craft" beer scene, which is pretty much everything about it except the admittedly wonderful beer. Read moreThe Arbitrager is a tiny "craft" pub not far from Bank tube/DLR station. There are only a few tables on the inside and even fewer (standing only) outside, so it can get very busy very quickly. The pub offers a solid range of alternating kegged beers (see picture), but this place only serves 1/2 or 2/3 pints. Prices are elevated as everywhere else in Central London. Most of the beers are brewed in the city. If you can find a place at the table and if it's not too busy, The Arbitrager is a good place for a beer in the evening or after work, but not necessarily a place to linger....
Read moreI really like this pub. They specialise in local beers and gins. The beer selection changes on a regular basis and there is a board displaying the latest line up. They had twelve beers available on the day I visited. It is was quiet when I visited on a Tuesday at 3pm. This pub is at ground level but there is a cocktail bar in the basement.
