ZERO STARS! Honestly, I've never left a bad review in my life but the experience me and my friends had here at Mister Lasagna was absolutely abhorrent. The service was appalling and quality of food, abysmal. We should have known when they refused to seat us indoors due to having "many reservations”, whilst it was spitting. I would like to add, we wouldn't have done so we knew how much ample space they truly had. Whilst being seated, the server showed his utter disregard for basic hygiene as he rolled his eyes after being asked to wipe a bird poo like substance off the table that he chose to seat us at. I truly believe asking for it to be wiped was a reasonable and fair request. But if being seated as a dirty table was not enough, he proceeded to bring us filthy cutlery; and I don't mean dirty with watermarks, I mean dirty with actual bits of food stuck to the knives. Not even on 1 knife but on 3 out of 4 knives ! However, this was amended by a different server that changed the cutlery for us promptly - it's a shame he wasn't assigned to us for the duration of the meal. Just to give an idea of how long we waited, it’s important to note that we were seated at the same time as another party. The waiter came out and took their orders almost immediately. As he walked past us on his way back in, we called him and asked if our order could also be taken, to which he told us he was come back. He did not return until it was time to bring the food that the other party ordered, over 20 minutes prior, but we asked again and he gave us the same response. The group next to us had FINISHED EATING before he came back to finally take our order. We waited to order for approximately 1 hour ! We ordered fries x2 and 4 trio lasagnas. The fries took 20 minutes to come out and they came out before our drinks, we waited an additional 15 minutes for our drinks. Then we waited another 30 minutes for the lasagna to come out and I wish I was exaggerating. If the excoriating wait times were not enough, my order got messed up and they brought out the wrong thing. Personally, I had to send my food back 3 times because 3 times they brought me the wrong order. (I don eat pork and each time they bought me the wrong dish it had pork, thats how I knew it was wrong because I definitely did not order carbonara). Tell me why the waiter started an argument with me as he insisted he didn't bring the wrong order because he "doesn't make mistakes" and then saw the little pieces of bacon in my dish, and didn't even apologise. When the food finally came I was starving and it looked so good so imagine my disappointment when it didn't even taste nice. Honestly speaking, it is one of the worst lasagnas I've ever eaten in my life. After I was served my food, we didn't see or hear from any member of staff again - not even for the bill. I had to enter the restaurant from where they had seated us outside and stand by the door just to ask for the bill because we had been waiting for it for some time. Naturally, when the time came to pay the bill I asked to remove service charge and the server started screaming at me and arguing with me for not wanting to pay the service charge. Sorry but i'm not going to pay service charge after receiving such poor treatment. Not only that, no effort was made at all to apologise or compensate us for such a terrible experience (to be honest I don't think I would go back even if they gave me a free meal but the OFFER would have been nice). I decided to use the toilet before leaving and this is when we discovered the downstairs seating area which was practically empty. It can probably seat around 50 people and there was only 3 parties of 3-4 there! They were not overly busy when we got there and we had a very clear view if the entrance so I can truthfully say that not many people came so I don't know what "many reservations" they were talking about. Safe to say I will NEVER step foot in that...
Read moreI had seen social media posts talking about the restaurant and was really excited to visit, but sadly it did not live up to expectations at all and ended with my sister getting food poisoning.
We’d been sat down for more than 30 minutes before someone came to take our drink order. When the waiter came back to take our meal choices, we both wanted the trio of lasagnes but we were only told after we’d chosen our options that two of each of our three options were not available.. this would have been useful to know when we were first given menus!
When the food came, one of the trio of lasagnes my sister had was cold in the middle, clearly not heated up properly. One of her trio was also not one of the ones she asked for so they had got her order wrong. It was quite busy that evening and the service had really not been good, we tried to get someone’s attention and a waiter said he would come over but forgot, so in the end my sister just left the cold lasagne and ate the rest. There was also no real way to tell which lasagne was which as they were all in one dish together, so if you had three tomato based lasagnes it was hard to tell what was what.
When the waiter came back after we had finished eating, he asked how everything was and my sister told him that one of the lasagnes was stone cold inside and clearly wasn’t heated up long enough. The waiter laughed and said “so the lasagne defeated you” and we repeated that one of them was cold, not heated up through, he said “oh okay” and just walked off with the plates, and didn’t say a thing to his manager or the chefs. His English didn’t seem fluent and he clearly didn’t understand what we were saying, but there was no other member of staff around for us to inform of this instead.
When a different waiter came to our table when we had asked for the bill, he very bluntly asked “you wanna pay separately or what?”. Definitely not the usual level of customer service you get in restaurants. The couple sat next to us had also been waiting 30 minutes just to get their bill and pay.
Just before we left, I went to the bathroom but had to walk through what was clearly a private party who were doing karaoke in the entire downstairs area of the restaurant, so I had to walk right through the middle of a (not very sober) karaoke party to get to the toilets.. one of the two sinks was flooded and one of the two toilet cubicles had what I hope was just water all over the entire floor, so they were definitely not as clean as they should be.
As I mentioned at the beginning, to make things worse, my sister ended up with food poisoning from the under-heated lasagne.
Overall, the service was really not good, the food was obviously not great, and it was a big let down. I hate to give bad reviews but honestly this was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had, and I won’t be going back sadly. This restaurant has the potential to be a very unique, cool idea with a great menu, but it just isn’t anywhere near what it should be...
Read moreI had been wanting to try this restaurant for a while after seeing the trio lasagne on social media. Italian is my favourite cuisine, which makes this all the more disappointing. When I arrived, I opted to sit inside as I didn't want flies, etc, to land on my food. This posed to be irrelevant as I had two flies bothering me the entire time I was inside. I was the only one who sat inside, and they didn't have air-conditioning. My table was dirty, so I asked the waitress to clean it. She lightly wiped the top of the placemat and flipped it over to reveal an even more dirty side that she was hoping I didn't notice. I did. She didn't bother cleaning it properly she just walked away and acted as if it was clean.
I ordered a san peligrino mint and lime, and the trio lasagne of bolognase, calabrese, and spinach. The food came out quickly and piping hot. For my drink, I had to get up and get the straw myself as I wasn't offered one, and getting the staffs attention this entire visit was atrocious! The same is true with salt and pepper, I had to walk around finding it on other tables. Again, I was the only one there.
The lasagne was very disappointing, and I honestly do not know what the hype about it is online. If I suggested this place to someone, I would be embarrassed! The bolognase has a smell to it that tomato based dishes have when they are starting to go bad, and the calabrese was greasy, and both were bland. The saving grace was the spinach lasagne, which was creamy and had a beautiful texture. I didn't finish any of it as I was put off by the experience.
The service was quite shocking, and I felt uncomfortable. I don't mind people speaking in their native language, but when I am made to feel like you are talking about me, that is not OK! A few of the male staff members were chatting, and then one would look at me and look back at the other staff member, and they would smirk. As men, you should be ashamed doing that to any woman, making them feel uncomfortable, but for staff to do that to a customer, ridiculous!
I waited around 30 minutes trying to get the attention of any staff member for my bill, and I asked 3 times! I was asked twice by a staff member if I was OK, and I said yes, can I get my bill, please? He again just looked at the other staff, and they just smirked. It wasn't until I was looking very annoyed that one of them bothered to approach my table ask if I was OK, this is when I had to raise my voice and say yes I am fine, I just want my bill. They had the cheek to add service charge, which I requested to be removed. What service am I paying for?! Will never return and will definitely not be recommending this...
