After years of warnings from close friends and family about the blatant racism at this venue, I finally gathered the courage to visit my local pub. I honestly regret it. The experience was appalling, I didn’t even get far enough to order a drink.
I went in to ask about the happy hour and stood at the bar for 5–10 minutes, completely ignored, despite the place being nearly empty. Two male staff members looked me directly in the eyes and turned away with a visible look of disgust. It was cold, deliberate, and frankly humiliating. Only after that did a female staff member finally acknowledge me and respond. By then, I had already decided to leave.
I wouldn’t outright call it racism, but there is absolutely some kind of prejudice at play, and that is unacceptable in any setting, let alone a community pub. Read moreLovely little locals welcoming pub, cheap pints and attentive staff. Went here after a interest weekend of late night techno pizza. Pulling a sicky with a friend I've know since I was 11. We had cider in the beer garden which was a nice place to talk about our weekend and people watch. Cherry stones kept falling out of a tree. I had been up until 6am talking nonsense with a friend of a friend after going to the Dalston super store, J showed us the place a friend we made after he had help a lady in need of a ambulance so we bought him a pint. I had been on a cannel boat rave the previous night and lost my wallet but a kind soul from insta who included me in their documentary found it and is posting it back anyway I digress. I defs recommend this place if you got lost after going to a pharmacy and you need to ground yourself with an old friend before making...
