We've used Nicholson's pubs on a number of occasions and always had good service. Last night at the Cambridge was an absolute disaster - only one draft beer was available - all the others were 'off'. Silent Pool gin was available in the bar downstairs but the waitress couldn't be bothered to go and get it so that was not available upstairs in the dining room. Of the 6 or 7 pies that were listed only 2 were available and the waitress didn't know which 2. When she did find out we ordered the same 2 pies and then were told they only had one left. And it went from bad to worse - we decided to finish our drinks and leave - we were then presented with the bill for the drinks and abruptly told we would 'have to vacate the table and take our drinks downstairs'.

The waitress had a 'couldn't care less attitude' and addressed us as 'darling'. We asked to speak to the manager and after a long wait Phil appeared and did his best to placate 4 very upset customers. To be fair he did apologise and waive the drinks bill.

I always give good feedback when it is due and in the main tend to ignore poor service but the service and attitude of the waitress was way beyond poor - it...

Normal pub with a horrifying disgusting bathroom. No attention to hygiene. I don't want to think of their other places -like their kitchen. Just thinking of it makes me sick.

The answer to this comment is even more worrying as the state of that toilet was not a question of an hour or two: it was catastrophic. Toilet blocked, floor flooded, maggots, the lot. Fair enough it was a busy night for them, maybe they could not take care of their toilets. Maybe other areas are immaculate. I would have visited the place again and on seeing an improvement I would have changed my review -I have done this several times in other places, and when I have been unfair I have publicly admitted it. But here I see a corporate-like answer, a "we are making every effort" kind of answer. Corporations seem to be living in a fantasy world where they can get away with all sorts just by wishing it and by making up some politically correct statements, but they can't see that people always find out what the truth is.

I wish you all the best and I hope you improve, but until I see the improvement I'm afraid I am leaving my rating...

Awful service. Were told to wait by the toilets, while the table becomes free. Table was eventually free and 10 minutes later we were still waiting. We caught the attention of the waitress who probably thought we were new customers and told us to go wait outside the dining room again. We ordered the two of the same dish, in medium-rare and medium. After a long wait the food arrives but the waitress didn't know which plate was medium or not. After consulting the kitchen she told us to switch them. Upon cutting the meat it was noticeably the opposite. No one came to check how the food was. In fact it was awful and cold. Half of it has been left behind. My plate was stained of mushy peas although they weren't part of my dish. No one came to pick up the plates. Had to ask for the bill twice. And once it was delivered no one came to collect the money. I had to go pay by the till.

Would definitely not...

Forget the McDonalds across the way from the Pub. We called in for something to eat. You can eat upstairs in the restaurant but we decided to eat in the bar. We had a tablethat looked onto Charing Cross Road (People watching) The food was very tasty & incredibly hot (which I like). We both enjoyed our meals & mine was the Garlic chicken Schnizel Chicken with chips. My wife had the ‘Hand Pulled Lamb Shank Shepherds Pie’ full of thick pieces of Lamb. One of the best shepherds pies that she as ever had. Next time we are in London I will call in if we are around the area. Staff friendly & although only a small area to eat & drink it was just great. By the way don’t diss me…I eat with my fork in my right hand and the knife in the left. There are a few of us around. 👍

Excellent English Pub located in central London. Nice environment and good service. When we visited during weekday it wasn't crowded and we didn't need to book in advance.

The Cambridge Pub is a hidden gem for beer lovers. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with a cozy and inviting atmosphere that instantly makes you feel at home. The selection of beers is impressive, with a wide variety of craft brews and traditional favorites to choose from. But it's not just the quantity of beers that sets this pub apart, it's the quality. Each pint is poured with care and precision, resulting in a delicious and refreshing experience. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly, always willing to recommend a new beer or offer their expertise. Whether you're a beer connoisseur or just looking for a great place to relax with friends, The Cambridge Pub is the perfect spot.
