Booked the Seven Dials Hotel expecting a comfortable stay, but what I experienced was completely unacceptable. The property presented itself as a hotel online, but in person, it's a private hostel at a hotel price. There was no air conditioning in the room, despite a brand-new wall unit, and the room was over 85 degrees. I asked the front desk about air to cool off and was told to go buy my own fan if I wish to cool off. She said the air was broken, but the air was working in her area perfectly fine. The room had blackout drapes which is indicative the air is not an option for patrons and are used to cool down the room from the afternoon heat, because the sun beat into the room. If you wished to open the window for a waft of air, you were overwhelmed by the sound of street pubs-which would have been fine if we could actually close the window at night; however, since it was a sauna in the room the window had to remain open. In addition, the elevator was out of service, and I was expected to climb multiple flights of stairs to a third-floor room. This was not disclosed in advance. Guests deserve honestly about what they are booking, especially when it comes to accessibility and comfort. To add, the hostel entrance was next to a bistro, so upon entering, I had to ask patrons of the bistro to move their chair to get into the front door. The restaurant places outdoor seating in front of the door. I would strongly advise others to look elsewhere for...
Read moreIssues on check in re reservation but got sorted. Didn't stay at the main hotel was booked into one of the Annexes. As a solo traveler, when I arrived at the location I was a little concerned as it was down a corridor and above a mobile phone shop. Room was on the 3rd floor up some very steep stairs. Room itself was a single room, whilst it was clean and tidy there were a couple of issues. The room had a fridge and microwave which came in handy. However, whilst there were a plate, glass, cup and saucer there wasn't any cutlery so not really very helpful. Due to the small size of the room there wasn't a wardrobe, couple of hooks with 3 hangers, not enough for my clothes as I was attending shows at Drury Lane Theatre so had dresses to hang up, but managed to make it work. The bed was comfy and thankfully it had air conditioning. However, the location was noisy as there were large air conditioning units running outside for local pubs etc. Price for the room was £240.00 for 2 nights which I thought was ok, but seems others paid a lot less for a lot bigger double rooms. Luggage could be stored in the main hotel, not in a safe storage area but in reception by the lift. One thing in its overall favor is the location, as I say it was great for the Drury...
Read moreLocation was excellent. That's sadly the only good thing about this. AC didn't work, internet was non functional two and a half out of three days, bathroom was cramped, had to sit with door open to have room for my legs (I am tall but still). Soap bar was used when I got there, had black hairs on it. Told the receptionist about the internet and AC but nothing happened. Walls are paper thin, could hear word for word what the neighbor said. Doors are the same, impossible to sleep when people started opening and closing doors from 0700 in the morning. Curtains had a white gooey substance on them, roof spotlight had a thick layer of dust. Roomservice came in the afternoon when we were back from shopping, that's not ideal either. How on earth people have been eating this 5 stars is a mystery to me. My son was placed in the basement under a busy shop, with laundry bags stacked up against the walls. And no, we did not get a specified receipt stating that we booked a basement room, because we did not book a basement room at all. Two single rooms, as pictured on booking dot com. Do not...
