🚇 Goodge Street 🍺 £6.85 Camden Hells ❤️ A superb 1930’s Fitzrovia pub that has had a recent makeover. . The Carpenters Arms is located in a quiet side street just off Tottenham Court Road. Getting here is easy, the pub is situated halfway between Warren St and Goodge St tube stations. . This unique 1930’s pub is easy on the eye and retains a lot of its original features including the Wenlock brewery signage. . This pub has undergone a recent thoughtful refurb and the results are a triumph and sympathetic to this pub’s heritage. On the ground floor there are two bars with the back bar predominantly for dining. If you head upstairs you’ll find the Belle bar which leads to a cosy partially covered heated roof terrace. Throughout the pub are traditional and modern touches which make for a contemporary feel. There are lots of red and green colour ways with dark wood panels, these are punctuated by wonderful mirrors, a bit of neon and old photographs and signage. . The beer and cider choice is good and consists of regular favourites, a couple of cask options and four craft beer varieties. I was on the Camden Hells which isn’t always my go to but was decent and going down well. Price point was above average for London but in keeping with the area. There is plenty of food on offer here, fish and chips cost £15.50. . I was fortunate enough and grateful to be invited to the opening night here at The Carpenters Arms. On arrival the place was absolutely buzzing and very busy with industry, social media and all round good people in attendance. The staff were on point and very welcoming, they looked after everyone very well and did an amazing job. . The @thecarpsarms is a unique looking pub on the London pub landscape. The refurb looks great and I love the roof terrace. Plenty of variety in the food and drinks options and the team here are excellent. I really enjoyed my visit here and will definitely be back. . 📊 Information correct on...
Read moreWe went to this pub for a work Christmas lunch. I won't even waste my time going into details, but this whole experience was just so unpleasant. The food was very average - but this would not be an issue. The issue was how incredibly unaccommodating and rude the staff here (to be fair just one person who seems to "run the show") is. From not being able to provide full answers to allergy and dietary advice, to blocking all their entrances without adding "bar closed UNLESS you have a corporate event reservation", to throwing a tantrum because people forgot to bring cash (forcing them to go outside and cash out!!!!) with her reason being "card payment takes too long", to not being able to offer any other drink apart from wine or beer....To sum up - as she got off the call with a new group arriving (taking over our table) she says loudly -"They are on their way and they aren't happy either." Well let me tell you - I am not surprised. The whole experience felt like you want to book as many groups in as possible, spend as little effort as possible, kick them out quickly, and have them pay with cash so that you don't have to pay the car processing fees....Maybe this is all because it was a group event (not that that's an excuse to lower your service standards), but I will not be trying it out for any other occasion after this experience. Don't think anyone form my...
Read moreAbsolutely terrible experience, booked dinner for four people at 7.30pm on a Tuesday. We found our table upstairs, nobody paid any attention to us, eventually we went to the bar and ordered food ourselves. The staff member was pretty inexperienced. Next thing, they told us the food would be delayed by 30 mins. We said that we would wait - bad decision! At 9pm, our food was finally delivered. If it wasn’t bad enough, they didn’t give us any cutlery. The waitress then gave us knives, but said there were NO FORKS. So we had to wait for five more minutes to get a fork - so that we could eat this food that we’d been waiting at least 60 minutes for. The worst part was; there was absolutely no apology, nothing mentioned by the staff, we had to pay for our full bill. I don’t blame the inexperienced staff - I blame whoever is managing this place, because the training is terrible and the kitchen management is clearly not good. It was a Tuesday!!! How was it so badly organised and delayed!! Everyone had booked tables in advance, it wasn’t even very busy upstairs - it doesn’t make sense. I’ve worked in service for 5 years in the past, I never leave bad reviews, but this was honestly the worst dinner experience I’ve...
