upon reading through the replies to some of the 1 star reviews, the service me and my friends received today makes perfect sense. we were treated extremely disrespectfully, my friend brought in some food from another place and sat with me and two other friends who had ordered drinks and meals each. the owner (i think?) a man with curly brown hair did not say anything upon serving me my drink regarding my friend having food from another place. upon returning to our table with our meals he very passive aggressively told my friend she could not have food from the outside and it needed to be put away, she said okay and he left. we discussed what to do next as we had all ordered meals and drinks and did not want our friend to have to sit watching us after being treated in a manner that made us all uncomfortable. as we were discussing this my friend absentmindedly ate a chip she was holding.

moments later the same man rushed up the stairs literally shaking with anger and aggressively pointed his finger at my friend and accused her of lying to his face “i just watched you on camera eating a chip you lied to my face” we were all understandably confused at the level of anger radiating from this man. my friend responded that it was a bit creepy to watch us on the camera and that she was in the process of putting the food away. he called us disrespectful and said we would need to get out - after the remaining 3 of us had ordered meals - and told us we would not bring outside food into any other pub. we told him he did not need to carry on as he was clearly getting more and more wound up about the situation even though roughly 2 minutes had passed since he first told us we could not have the outside food.

after this the atmosphere was completely ruined and we did not want to stay, we could also hear the same man very loudly talking to the bar staff downstairs. i asked the next waitress that came up with the last meal if we could have a takeaway container to which she responded with a laugh “we don’t do takeaways” - the last time we came to the pub we were given takeaway boxes to leave with so not sure what changed within the last few months.

we packed the food up ourselves and left the upstairs, stopping first to talk to the man who had been rude to us. we tried to explain that he did not need to speak to us like that and he could have gone about it a lot better than he did and that we were leaving as we felt so uncomfortable. immediately he was back at the same level of anger that he had been at when he stormed up the stairs to have a go at my friend.

all in all, we won’t be coming back to this pub- obviously- which is a shame because we did have a really positive experience here a few months ago. i’m sure the owner does not care and will reply to this review in the same manner he has for every other review but this was such a negative experience that i felt the need to leave this long winded comment explaining our experience.

anyways we have concluded that you will respond , have a field...

I would have given negative stars if the option was available.

Our experience was plain awful. It's not what it used to be. Their food and drinks are as awful as their staff.

To start off, their menus smelled of piss. It was disgusting. I had to wash my hands straight away and had to flip through the menu holding a tissue. When it came to ordering, we got a burger with beer and chicken combo with pepsi. We had no issue with the burger and beer, but the pepsi was watered down and they gave us the wrong order. They replaced the pepsi without a problem, but instead of the chicken combo, they gave us the american platter. We told the guy at the till (who I'm assuming was the manager) and instead of fixing the problem, he replied stating that we ordered the american platter and that we said it three times. Of course, we know what we ordered and we insisted. He exchanged it but after he argued with us. The food took 30 mins to arrive and when we asked the waitress that we had been waiting half an hour, she simply left. The food finally came and was personally given to us by that "manager" without even an apology. He just placed the plate on the table and that was it. I did not even bother eating it and left. God knows what they did with it because it looked like they've messed with it and even then, the food was not as described on the menu.

Horrific service and food. We will most definitely not be going back and will tell...

What a disastrous nights. I had booked this place for my husbands birthday and I had spoken to Dan there that please make it special and he reassured me about that. We were 12 of us and we got there at 7.15. Some of us even subscribed to the newsletter and got a coupon for free drinks. When we got there it was a complete chaos - as no one understood anything about the coupon - they shouldnt offer things on their website if their staff is not aware. The staff behind the counter just didnt know how to handle it. it took us 45 minutes just to get a few drinks sorted and then we finally ordered our food and were about to start enjoying our drinks by 8.15pm and then someone came and said that sorry our gas is not working so we cant serve you any food any more and we will give you a refund - then another waitress came and said no the kitchen is fine and we are serving food so we sat down again and 5 minutes later the first guy came again and said I am sorry there is no food. It was 8.40 by then - and then we had to go find another place close by and we were very lucky to have found a table for 12. I just want to say i have never had a worse experience even in a kebab shop like a did at this well established pub. Thank you 'The Court' for completely ruining my husbands birthday - it was an evening...

Good English pub along Tottenham Court Road. Busy watering hole for locals, University students, tourists and football fans. On match days, the bar is ten deep. Good laugh, if you can't beat them, join them. Prices are reasonable. There are seating upstairs, and more tables outside. The washrooms are upstairs. For sporting events, there are six large television screens in the Court. The kitchen serves a delicious fish n chips, and Sunday roasts. Prices are affordable. Please order and pay for your dinners at the bar. The service is fast despite the busy bar. On match days, The Court at TCR is packed. The whole pub has been refurbished recently. If you have any special dietary requirements, please speak to a member of the staff. Thank you

I was heading to the Venezuelan Consulate in London and saw an add in the pavement offering meal + drink for £8.75. I decided to have lunch there and choosed fish and chips with a pint of beer. I paid £9.65 because alcoholic drink increase £1 the total price. The service was excellent, very helpful and extremely friendly and kind. The food was fresh, tasty and abundant and, finally, it has a very good atmosphere. I live in Bournemouth and went to London because I needed to ask for an apostille and to find an affordable option to have lunch in London was a great experience.

The mission, while having a couple days in London, was to visit a real pub for fish and chips. The Court was recommended by friends who had visited the day before. It was a busy evening, and after a look through the menu, placing an order at the bar was easy. The staff were friendly and helpful answering the few questions I had. The fish and chips are legit. Delicious and the portion size for the fish was eye opening. A good splash of malt vinegar and a liberal application of tartar sauce and I had found my bliss. Mission accomplished.
