The store looks great, but better stay away if you want any spirits. Thought it'd be a great idea to buy a few things. I'm almost totally unfamiliar with most things in there, so decided to just keep it simple this time and buy a few things that I actually know and want. Ended up at the till and asked for a bottle of spirit from the shelf. And surprise surprise the lady was insisting for me to show an ID. I felt this to be a bit racist since none of the Asian customers before me had to do suffer from this treatment plus last time this happened to me was 10 years ago. I felt like pretty humiliated to be treated like a liar. Funny thing is that I can't tell if the Asian lady in front of me was 30 or 55 years old, while it's pretty easy to guess the age of a European +-3 years.
There are only a couple of things wrong with this: I'm 33 years old and not bringing my passport to the grocery store like most of the general population Legal drinking age in this county is 18 I came from work and had a 6 o'clock shadow (not very common for youngsters) Was using a debit card not cash (legal requirement to be over 18 at barclays to be able to open such an account as mine) A small bottle of something with a pineapple on it hardly qualifies as alcoholic tendency what that stupid campaign is meant to prevent On your website you only ask to be over 18 and the proof is a click of a button....
Moral of the story is that I'll rather bring my business to china town next time where I'm being treated more like a customer and less like a liar/criminal and for what it's worth I'll probably spread the word and advise my friends to...
Read moreOseyo: A taste of Korea!
Y'know, I discovered Korean food last year December 2018 at a Lightmass (Christmas) do. As a result, I have tried to recreate Korean-style dishes for Myself! Here at Oseyo, I can find just about all the ingredients I need to compose My Own Plant-Based Korean inspired food. I love seaweed and there's a great range of it to be had. Oh! I love mushrooms too, and there's a great range of different varieties!
Even though this particular Korean store is large, the spaces between the isles are narrow. This can be annoying as you'll bump into people and they will certainly bump into you.
The store closes at 22:00, which is perfect if you're in that part of town and looking for a gift for your K-Pop loving friend, and/or you want to buy ingredients for great food or something already made, such as a snack.
You have to check it out! I bought Wakame seaweed for the meal I made as pictured below. I love cooking!
Well, I hope you enjoyed My review. Maybe I'll see you there, in Oseyo!...
Read moreI went to Seoul Bakery a few days ago. I can’t judge the food since I haven’t earned anything there. They have lots of Kpop merchandise downstairs, which is what I came for. Mostly stuff from popular groups such as: EXO, BTS, TWICE etc... I couldn’t find anything Red Velvet related, and only a few Blackpink things. Smaller groups such Monsta X, SEVENTEEN etc were much harder to find. However, my biggest problem was with the posters. I bought a Twice poster of “What is love?” for about 10 pounds. Then a few days later I went to H-Mart mini (Tottenham Court Road), and all the posters they sold in the H-Mart mini (also the one that I bought), was just 3,99! Bottom line: buy your posters at...
