This was one of my favourite places to go, and a place where we used to go at least once a week for the last 4 years, always spending at least £30-£60 each time. I can confidently say that I have spent no less than £5.000 in this place for the last couple of years. And today was the last time I went there.
Today I had the most horrible experience in this place. We entered through the normal door, where other people were entering and we sat at a table that was empty. A staff member came and said please leave, in a rude way. My wife and I looked at each other and left, and then outside she explained to me that maybe that guy was having a bad day and that could be his way of saying "please use the other entry because of covid control"
Without any problem we went through the other door, and that was it.
When we entered, we went to sit at the same table as before, that was still unoccupied, and where we could watch the game that was showing: the final of the europa league. The same guy from before came and said please leave this table, I chose that table for you, pointing to another table. We asked if there was a problem with us staying at that table where we were, and the answer was "I already said that you are going to sit there" in an even more rude way than before. It was at that moment that we looked at each other and said "thank you very much", we turned around and went to eat...
Read moreThe prices are good and the decking area is nice, which is what attracted me to this place. However, the service was really unpleasant: the second my friends and I had finished our drinks, we were told we had to order something else immediately or otherwise the manager would make us leave the premises. After asking for 10 minutes to let our food settle, we were then repeatedly harassed by the waitresses every couple of minutes with continued threats that we'd be forced to leave.
If the bar had been super crowded, their attitude (if not their tone) would have been understandable, but there were hardly any other customers at that time. After the third intervention within the space of 5 minutes, we decided to leave because the atmosphere was so unpleasant. Clearly the customer experience isn't a priority here – just getting every penny out of you as rapidly as possible, which seems deeply shortsighted as a business strategy.
If you want a relaxing place to enjoy food and drink without constant interruptions and threats, I'd strongly recommend...
Read moreI ordered a Halal English Breakfast from The Castlebar through Just Eat and was absolutely shocked at the state of the food I received. Not only was it poorly presented, but much of it was undercooked and unsafe to eat.
The sausages were raw and pink in the middle (as my photos clearly show), and the bacon was also practically raw and chewy, looking like it hadn’t been cooked properly at all. For nearly £20 including delivery and service fees, this is completely unacceptable.
Undercooked meat is a serious food safety issue — it could make someone very ill. I couldn’t eat the meal and had to request a refund through Just Eat. This isn’t just a matter of taste or presentation, it’s about basic health and hygiene standards that were not met.
I rarely leave reviews, but in this case I feel it’s important to warn others. If this is how food is being prepared and sent out, it’s not safe. Extremely disappointed and I will never order...
