I've been going to Eggbreak for years and between my friend and I, I think that we tried almost every item on the menu. I used to love having breakfast here and it was the go to place for seeing family and friends for brunch, but after my last experience I will try to find another place (as there are many others in the area). I will not be complaining about the long queue as that's something they cannot control (even if it was more pleasent when they were using a walk-in app), but I will complain about the way we were treated once we got inside. So we (my friend and I, a group of 2) start queueing at 10.50 and we were seated around 11:45 (in all fairness, this was the longest queue we encountered in a while on a weekday). We said straight away that we knew what we want to order but our orders weren't collected imminently, that was fine too, maybe they were busy. When the guy came to collect the order I said that I want the new item (and named it), he sourly said "there's nothing new in the menu, we didn't change it". Ok... maybe I don't remember well, no idea why he had to be snappy. My food arrived at 12:15, quite fast after we managed to order (yey) and I ate it in less than 10 min ( I was starving). My friend and I were discussing what sweet item to order next (as the portion was quite small and there was room for more), when the waiter came and said "are you staying for longer as we have people waiting outside?" with the same sour tone and bored face. It made us feel very unwelcome and we decided just to pay and have our sweets treats in the coffee across the street. I understoof there was a queue but we only finished eating, we weren't there for an hour chatting. I have also ordered the Karak chai that was supposed to be with "free refills" and not only that no refill was offered, but the cup was taken from me without being asked anything. We paid at 12:40 and left (the banking app shows the time), so we stayed only half an hour after the food was actually brough to the table. Maybe the treatment was not terrible, but we felt rushed and considering the prices increased, but the serviced dropped I will avoid this place from now on. I have to admit I was also annoyed that you need to pay by yourself online through a software that not only charges automatically for service but also takes 1£ extra from each person. I know there are commissions to be paid to card processors, but if small establishments can cover for these, they can cover as well. I guess I wouldn't have been annoyed by these things if the service would have been nice, but when you feel that you are treated terrible, everything...

I knew how insane the queue would be so we came at 10:30am but there were already at least 15 people ahead of us. My friend arrived first so she entered the electronic queue and after waiting for 25 minutes she got a phone call telling her our table would be ready in 10 mins and that they would only seat us once we were both there so I literally ran from Notting Hill station hoping we hadn't lost our table. Luckily a girl behind got called to the front and her friend was also late like me so she very kindly gave us the table first.
We were seated in the main area at the back which was nice and cosy. We scanned their QR code for their menu and decided to go with the Mexican omelette and the Ari's pancakes. We also ordered an oat cappuccino and a fresh grapefruit juice. Drinks came pretty quickly although they got my coffee order wrong and gave me a latte so I asked them to re-make it and made sure it's oat milk as I had initially requested. Food came pretty 10 minutes after and we both loved how cute their plates all were. The omelette came as a big portion and there were toasts on the side although I wasn't exactly impressed as it didn't taste outstanding. The pancakes were good but they weren't exactly fluffy and soft. The salted caramel butter was way too sweet for me personally so I didn't really touch it. I did like that there were bananas layering between the pancakes so it didn't feel like you were constantly just eating the pancakes and nothing else. Coffee was strong which I enjoyed although it lacked the latte art I was hoping to see. The tater tots we shared were pretty decent. Crunchy outside and soft inside, savoury and moreish.
Service was fantastic, the staff there were all so friendly and smiley even though it must be an extremely stressful job dealing with overwhelming amount of customers everyday so kudos to their professionalism! The grand total came to around £25 per person which I had expected given the location. While waiting for our bill to come we over heard the other table's conversation with the waiter who mentioned that apparently this is the top 1/2 brunch place in London with the longest queue although I wonder why given my above review. I suppose it's a matter of personal taste and preference as I enjoy brunch at other...
Read moreCame here after that viral video on TikTok/Instagram for the egg bacon toastie. We ordered three things and all were a bit disappointing -
The toastie, we requested really crispy bacon & the bacon that came was barely even cooked. By the time we got someone’s attention to ask for replacement bacon (which they did bring thankfully) the rest of the toastie was cold and the cheese a bit congealed. BEC Stack, was nice?? But the photos on their menu suggest it will be covered in crumbled bacon and the eggs would be bright orange. We got a few bits of bacon and just average eggs. Chai latte, was SO pale and barely tasted of chai
The service was awful. The woman who first took our order was lovely and clearly trying her best, but the waiter who brought the latte said ‘oat chai’ when he put it down so I said oh I asked for soy, and he kept saying no i said soy, the receipt said soy, and I was trying to just get him to leave and saying it’s fine if it’s soy you just said oat, and he stayed there for a frankly weird amount of time to repeat that he apparently said soy. When he came to take the glass he was like SO are you satisfied it’s soy then? And I was like yeah…. I only queried because you said oat, which got him going again.
At the end because we’d struggled to get waiter’s attention throughout and we had issues with all the things we ordered we asked for the service charge to be removed, at which he said ‘are you THAT upset I told you I said soy’. Extremely odd behaviour. Reading through the negative reviews there does seem to be one problem waiter, review your staff !!
Overall, food was nice but average and not as advertised/requested, and service terrible. If I’m gonna queue for 40 mins outside I’m expecting...
