I’d read so much about the burgers here, so had to go to try. They definitely lived up to their reputation, BUT
the burgers took over an HOUR to come out and this was after checking with the kitchen 3 times. The 3rd time we were asked if we still wanted them and when the burger arrived and my friend said ‘finally’, we got a response hey be happy I made them fresh for you. I mean, really?
the fries arrived 20 min before the burgers (fine I can accept this even though not ideal as I wanted to eat them with my burger) and I only got told then that the burger of the month that I ordered wasn’t on the menu anymore and did I want this other lamb burger (probably made for someone else incorrectly). I don’t like to waste food but this was not what I ordered. I even said just bring me the bacon cheeseburger instead if you can’t do the burger of the month. Then when I got my burger it was neither the bacon cheese or the one I ordered. I mean, it was good but it wasn’t what I was ordered and frankly I was so annoyed by then so I just ate it.
Great burger, would have gotten 5 stars from me if not for this really...
Read moreI finally tasted the famous Lucky Chip burgers at The Grafton Pub in Kentish Town. The Lucky Chip guys have got a residency at the north London pub and it's great that you can have their burgers any day, any time. They offer a varied cocktail menu, I tried the "gingerbread old-fashioned" which was really delicious! But the highlight was the food. We started with buffalo wings, which were very sticky and tasty, with a barbecue flavour. My burger was the "Royale Wit Cheese", probably the best cheese-burger I have had in London so far. Not as soft as Patty & Bun, or greasy as Meatliquor. The Lucky Chip burger nails the bread, the patty and the toppings, it holds itself together, rather than disintegrating in your hands. I also tried the "Bill Murray Life Aquatic" Burger, as it was "burger of the week" (it is not on the menu otherwise). It's made with Soft Shell Crab, Beef Patty, cheese, Guacamole, Spicy Mayo, Ginger Sweet Chilli. It's unbelievably tasty. The sides and desserts were very good as well, but needless to say, the burger is the main reason why you should...
Read moreI went with a friend last night having not been since Lucky Chip were at Sebright Arms. I was originally planning on taking my friend to The Three Compasses as the burgers there at the moment are some of the best I've had (if not slightly overly salty), but we thought we'd try Lucky.
The burger (The Hopper Whopper) was really tasty, but the bun felt damp/soggy and wasn't that pleasant to eat, there wasn't enough textural balance, all felt too soft and mushy.
We decided to share the Hawkins High Snack Box and at £11.95 felt pretty ripped off. Not many chips (slightly pale for my liking), a small portion of tasty coleslaw, pretty tasty chicken nuggets and a really odd, bland sauce that was way too thin. Resulting in you not being able to actually get any sauce on to the item you were dipping, should you actually want any of the insipid sauce on your nugget.
Reasonable food, but given the quality elsewhere I wouldn't go again.
Also had to ask for the aioli I ordered and napkins twice. Bearing in mind there was around 8 people eating on a quiet...
