The Dartmouth Castle — Restaurant in London

The food here was really nice - I came here with my father for a nice meal and catch up.

The staff couldn’t have been more helpful suggesting things from the menu and the food was good value for money.

We witnessed however the owner berating a waitress, raising his voice and her and swearing in a really vile manner during service. It made both myself and my dad feel very uncomfortable and was quite disgusting to see.

I’d hope that the owner takes some classes in how to speak to your team given that this individual was quite upset after being spoken to like that, which is understandable given the harshness of your words.

I left feeling satisfied with the food, but wouldn’t have wanted my money to be saturating the bank account of an owner who would treat staff members in this fashion.

If this is the way he treats his team during service, I’d dread to see what it would be like behind closed doors.

The sad part is I work locally so would love to support this place - but given how uncomfortable I felt, I’d be reluctant to return.

To the worker who probably won’t read this who was spoken to poorly on that day - you did a fine job and did excellently in helping us decide from the menu and we’re quick in bringing us our drinks/food. Revisited after gap of seven years in the new delightful company of local regulars. Gorgeous horticultural ambience in the shape of abundantly planted high hanging baskets. Joanne should be commended on her choice of double ( and triple?) peonies. Cordyline in containers are also nicely framed. How about the giant spider plants inside holding pride of place on the windowsill. I'm waxing lyrical and l haven't even got to the food or the beer ! Menu isnt over fussy and complicated. Something for everyone if our table is typical. Affordable ribeye steak, burger well garnished, calimari, brusettas, chicken n chorizo croquettes with rocket, frizzy lettuce on the side. Why therefore is there only a photo of my friends crumble pudding. Honestly too busy eating and talking .. having a good time. My ale shandy ( Camden pride) not shabby either. Service was prompt, polite, and obvious staff care about getting repeat customers. Well worth dropping by any time of the week or weekend. I was informed that the veggie roast, which included the same amount of veg/potatoes as the meat one, was £20, compared to the pork one being £21 and the beef one being £20. I explained to the waiter that I felt this was unfair, and they were unwilling to consider my side. Bearing in mind that the veggie roast was not on the menu, therefore the £20 for some veggie and potatoes was picked from the air. Finally, the waiter said that they could do it was £18, which I reluctantly agreed with. When I paid, the waiter then stormed off without saying thank you or anything - highly ignorant!
