We were so excited but left pretty disappointed. Went there for dinner for my boyfriend’s birthday and ended up waiting one hour for the food. We had ordered many dishes (some of which didn’t require cooking such as bread, salami, anchovies etc) and in one hour we had only received bread and anchovies. Then they brought a chicken skewer on its own. Really large gaps between dishes, that didn’t really make sense to eat on their own. When my boyfriend asked for some bread so we could eat the raw fish dish with, they said sure, but it’ll take 10 min. It took 20 minutes. For bread. The restaurant wasn’t full at this point, it was past 9 pm. We also heard the table next to us having the same issue, they forgot about their dishes, heard them asking about their food repeatedly. The worst thing is, the staff seemed to be super relaxed about this, even after we complained, they said the kitchen is small so they can’t send the dishes out quick. I think if this is the case, they should let customers know the wait will be really long. They did apologise but at this point we just wanted to leave. They did give us a free dessert since it was my boyfriend’s birthday which was nice of them but the entire experience wasn’t worth the wait or the price of the bill (which we paid in full, didn’t want discounts for it) but for an average meal with a very long wait time, 124£ is a little steep. No drinks either, just water....
Read moreOverall, our Saturday dinner experience at 1/2 Cut Market fell short of expectations. While the floor staff were delightful, several aspects left much to be desired. The seating arrangement, consisting of tiny stools without back support, was uncomfortable, especially considering the bill exceeded £100 for two in Kentish Town. Additionally, the wine, a promising Tenerife White, was served warm initially, taking nearly half an hour to reach the appropriate temperature. Such oversight in a wine bar is unacceptable. The first dish, Pappardelle (not Tagliolini) Cacio e Pepe, was flavorful but disappointingly small (7 pieces) for its price (£16). Following a wait of over 45 minutes, the subsequent dishes, charred cabbage and pork cutlet, arrived simultaneously. The cabbage was passable, albeit with an overly spicy sauce and undercooked vegetables. The pork cutlet, however, was subpar, saturated in oil and butter, with tough meat and lackluster capers failing to elevate the dish. Surprisingly, no dessert options were available, which seems an oversight for a dinner service. Overall, the dining experience left much to be desired, making it unlikely for...
Read moreHalf Cut Market is a passion project. As a customer you cannot help but feel transported from York Way (of all places!) to cloud- Riviera-9 (for "riviera" is what the wilful creators of Half Cut have recast York Way as...). EVERY SINGLE person from the waiters to the kitchen staff act like this is the place they want to be and this is where we all ought to be. And they are not wrong! Half Cut pumps with sensational tastes, perfect buzz, and just a lovely clientele. The wine selection is divine and well justified in the menu ("light, crunchy and red"... POETS!). The food is so delicious that, even if you took it all to share, you feel a moral battle within you: launch a territorial warfare against your party guests in an attempt to annex more food or make sure they get to have all the happy elation...? Those puffy flat breads, those crunchy eclairs, the immaculate chickens, the perfect skewers... hello?! did anyone call the Michelin guide? Dear readers, go, go, go, but make sure the Duchess of Burrata still...
