🚇 Bethnal Green 🍺 £7.10 Rothaus Pils

Tucked away on Globe Road in Bethnal Green, you’ll find The Florist Arms. The nearest Tube is Bethnal Green on the Central Line.

This pub was built in 1871 and was once a Watney Combe Reid house. The pub still has the Watney’s trademark roundel with stag motif on the side of the building and also some beautiful brown glazed tiles.

The pub’s name refers to the former local culture of competitive flower growing introduced by the Huguenots. The Huguenots emigrated to London from France between the 16th-18th centuries.

This is cosy one bar pub that is traditionally decorated with some eclectic and contemporary touches. At the centre of the pub is wooden panelled servery with the bar forming a ‘U’ shape around it. The decor consists of a bare boarded floor, a mix of different seating and lighting, red and black flowery wallpaper and some very cool artworks.

This independent pub has an excellent selection of beers that included some local London brews and one cask ale. I decided on a Rothaus Pils, my pint was superb, price point was above average. The food option here is Pizza, there are 9 pizzas to choose from, a Margherita costs £10.

We arrived just before 2pm on an overcast Saturday afternoon in January. The atmosphere was chilled and relaxed with a few other punters in attendance. The service was great, the team member who served us was upbeat, chatty and courteous.

This is my second visit to this backstreet local, the first time was a lively packed evening affair, this time was a chilled pub experience, I thoroughly enjoyed both visits equally the same. The excellent selection of beers, popular pizza, local pub vibes and friendly service, make the @florists_arms a must visit if you’re in the area.

This evening we went to the Florist and the pub was empty. As soon as we took a sit, the owner started to clean around snorting and slamming chairs against the tables in the room. We went to the bar to ask for drinks and the same lady told us we weren't welcomed because our friend was banned 2 years ago for being loud. Our friend didn't joined us tonight but came 3 weeks ago and the man at the bar refused to serve him, so we left all together. Tonight the lady threw us the fact that we brought him back three weeks ago (after 2 years) she was very rude and said that we will all be banned if we try to bring him back again. We understand that our feiend might have been loud and unpolite that time, but tonight in the group there were other friends that had no idea about what happened and saw themselves threatened this way totally out of the blue. We are mortified and this is not a way to treat...

Lovely little pub, good music level where you can still hear the music as well as the conversation and lovely decorations great atmosphere. All of the staff where lovely but one member stuck out to me particularly, there was a point where I needed some help with a situation and Adrian the bar man, made the effort to make me feel comfortable and help me out, had a lovely chat with him and he’s such a vibe. Cherish this man and give him a raise because his customer service was impeccable!!! He’s an absolute credit to this bar and honestly he was so professional I assumed he was the manager, I also saw him serving other people and he constantly looked busy, it was nice to finally go to a bar and see staff who don’t look like it’s a chore to talk to you or actually do their job for once well done guys keep up the good work and don’t change, definitely drop by if...

15/10/22: not a bad selection of craft ale, although one had soured and was returned promptly for a change. Another, the Laine Brew; Mangolicious pale ale 4.7% was also on the turn, but drinkable. Quite a small quaint pub, service was ok, but greated by a childrens party for what looked liked 7 year olds running round. I had hoped for better. A dark interior but with likable booths to chit chat in, whilst we were on our Bethnal Green Ale Trail. Worth a visit, worth a pint, worth taking in it's back street boozer history. Existing from circa 1852 and formerly known as the Florist's Arms, the name changed to what it is now circa 2013. Previously owned by Watney Combe Reid Now run by Emma Tabard (from about 2016), a third generation publican, continuing the family trade of East End pub owners.

Great little, single room, East London pub but with lots of different seating areas. Really quiet for a Friday lunchtime but it was the last day of (dry) January. Therefore understandable that only one cask ale on at the time - but the Nightwatchman (£5 a pint) was good. I liked the option of either a straight glass or jug. They have a great stone-baked pizza menu, which I have tried previously, and they are so good! Big screens for watching the rugby later but thankfully off, with good music playing, at lunchtime. Emma, the manager, was lovely to chat to. This pub is a (slightly) hidden gem.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at The Florist Arms in Bethnal Green, a rustic pub offering stone-baked pizzas. My friend and I were both craving pizzas, and we were not disappointed, the pizzas were cooked really nice, with a crispy crust and gooey cheese. Overall, we had a wonderful lunch experience at The Florist Arms. The pizzas were delicious washed down with a few refreshing pints, all served by lovely staff. I would recommend this pub to anyone looking for a casual and enjoyable meal.
