Rating: 5/5 I recently visited "Mum Likes Thai Food" restaurant on my birthday, and what a wonderful surprise it was! The restaurant is conveniently located just opposite our flat, but it was the excellent hospitality and delicious food that truly made our visit special. The staff were incredibly welcoming and attentive, ensuring that we felt right at home. The service was top-notch, and the ambiance was cozy and intimate. But the real star of the show was the food - oh, the food! We were treated to a culinary journey through Thailand, with each dish more flavorful and aromatic than the last. The portions were generous, and the prices were very reasonable. I'm so glad we decided to try "Mum Likes Thai Food" on my special day. It was a truly memorable experience, and I highly recommend this hidden gem to anyone craving authentic Thai cuisine. We'll definitely be back for more! Pros: - Excellent hospitality - Delicious and authentic Thai food - Cozy ambiance - Reasonable prices - Convenient location Cons: None! I highly recommend "Mum Likes Thai Food" to anyone looking for a fantastic dining experience.

Authentic Thai restaurant. Definitely recommend to reserve a table than walk in as the restaurant is not too big and has limited capacity. We reserved a table couple days before and we saw many people were queuing on the day. Our group ordered: Tom Yum soup- definitely recommend, fresh ingredients, portion is a bit small but very tasty Fish Cake- recommend, tasty and fresh Pad Thai- authentic and portion size was good Stir Fry King Prawn- delicious however portion was a bit small, like 5/6 prawns Red Curry- tasty, recommend to order some rice, rice portion is very good so one portion will be able to share between 2 people Thai Ice Tea- Thai proper milk tea, if you want a Thai Milk Tea, they call it Ice Tea in general Thai Lemon Ice Tea- unique taste, if you like a plum drink, this is a drink you would enjoy however it did not taste lemon to us Thai Coffee- tasty It was a busy day when we dined in, so service was slightly slow but understanding, staff are generally very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our meal there and would recommend to others who like authentic Thai food

If you're looking for a delightful Thai meal, Mum Likes Thai Food should be at the top of your list. Nestled in the charming Roman Road near Bethnal Green Station, this hidden gem is just a short stroll from the tube station. The atmosphere here is incredibly soothing and inviting, making it an ideal place to unwind. One of the highlights of dining here is being able to witness the talented chef expertly preparing the dishes right before your eyes. The food itself is absolutely scrumptious, which is why I find myself returning to this restaurant time and time again. Additionally, if you're planning a birthday celebration or a business dinner with your colleagues, this place is perfect. However, due to their popularity, it's highly recommended to make a reservation in advance. Excitingly, they are also expanding their reach by opening a new restaurant, spreading the joy of Thai cuisine to other parts of town. For a truly exceptional dining experience, Mum Likes Thai Food is a must-visit destination.

I lived in Asia for 10 years, I'm a chef. Thai is my absolute favourite food, I worship at its altar. The combination of salt, sweet, spice and sour seduces me, it is true alchemy. In fact i'm developing a Thai menu right now for an Asian food competition and I am having sleepless nights trying to elevate what is already the perfect cuisine. So when I saw a local Thai restaurant with a cool name, 4.7 out of 5 with over 200 reviews I was calling them with a reservation immediately.

Unfortunately, devastatingly with metaphorical tears of disappointment I have to say, this is not a Thai restaurant. They do not serve Thai food. The Pad Thai is terrible, no spice, no salt no sour, only sweetness. If you've been to Thailand you know what Pad Thai tastes like...why are you people giving it a 4.7???

The minced basil chicken had one leaf of basil and the chicken isn't minced. It's a Chinese chow mein style dish without the mein. Why are you calling it Pad Kra? It' s Pad Krappy! (It certainly doesn't deserve a Krap)

The Papaya salad was almost serviceable, but it hadn't been mixed and the mandolin used to cut it was blunt, so the vegetables were not uniform in size. Still no spice, no salt no balance. Is Squid Brand fish sauce too expensive for you?

The service was impeccable, but I'm a cook so I"m reviewing the food. Chef, I looked you in the eye as I walked out. I'm the one that refused to pay for the Pad Thai. I know, that you know, that your food isn't Thai. You're from Thailand as is everyone in the restaurant so you know the food is compromised. Don't blame the clientele.

Either serve Thai food and call it that or don't. I love Thai, your Thai mum would not love...

This is my local Thai and I go often. Food is tasty and staff are friendly and professional, BUT one member of staff did ruin my experience and has made me rethink spending my money here. I ordered my usual - spicy fried rice and deep fried squid. I order these items regularly. When the squid arrived I realised that there was absolutely no seasoning. I asked for it to be changed was told in an exasperated manner that this was how it came. I pointed out that I come regularly and it’s never tasted this way. The staff member, who I believe is either the manager or owner, tutted and got me a new squid. I asked for chilli oil when I had originaly ordered and reminded the lady if that could be bought over. She did and slammed it down. The new squid was as it should be and me and my son ate the meal and left. Before leaving, one of the regular waiting staff asked us how the service was and I felt like she knew I had been treated badly. I regret tipping . It’s something that I just do and I haven’t been back since. This staff member needs to remember that customers are paying for the food and experience and treatment like this isn’t professional. I used to order or eat in at least twice a month. I haven’t been in six weeks because of this member of staff. It makes me sad as this place serves good food and is a 5...
