Tip: the owner also owns the food store next door so you can pick up top quality groceries there as well. They also do some type of traditional Turkish pancake there for a quick lunch pick up.
An absolute gem. My absolute favourite cafe hands down. Everything under the sun is on the menu. Everything great. We take every guest we have over for breakfast or lunch here, and not once is there a single complaint, just very happy customers. Jacket potatoes are the size of your head. And it's cheap and cheerful. Staff are absolutely lovely and quick and efficient. The owner is absolutely delightful. One time they accidentally overcharged without us realising and as soon as I came back a week or 2 or maybe more later and they rushed over to tell me immediately and give the money back. They must have been waiting all that time! Can't believe they remembered all that time.
Note I'm vegetarian, and so I can say its really great for veggies as well.
One day I unfortunately will need to move out of Bethnal Green, but this place alone would keep me here for as long as physically possible. I dred the day I won't be nearby.
Also... who on earth has possibly given this 1 star??? The mind boggles.
Love...
Read moreVery nice, rich breakfast, which was also quite cheap. But oh my god the waitress was SO rude it was unbelievable. One of our friends went and got us a table and said there were six of us, she was given a small table and told we’d moved to a bigger ones when everyone one arrived. When everyone arrived, however, the waitress very rudely told us we could fit in the small table she gave us, and she even told us “look if you want three of you can eat here and three other there”. Then she sent us outside to eat, brought us back in and when she gave us the menu said she’d be back in 5 min… she was back after 20 minutes and I kept trying to call her and she wouldn’t come, though she was clearly not busy doing other things. I mean obviously I’m not expecting a high level service but this rudeness was just something else, she kinda ruins it...
Read moreI really like this place and I enjoy the food variety and the cafe' s atmosphere. Sadly it does not offer gluten free bread and also it seems that there is no culture of making a kind gesture towards clients who cannot eat their delicious sourdough bread as they are gluten intolerant by replacing the bread with another ingredient or by changing a small part about the option chosen. E.g. I wanted to order the full monthly breakfast that comes with the two slices of sourdough bread and scrambled eggs. I explained I would not take the bread but asked if the eggs could be served as poached. Sadly this could not be changed. Most places do that now and I hope the owners can consider this small change to how welcoming they are to clients intolerant to gluten. I am adding a pic of an amazing meal I...
