The George & Dragon — Restaurant in London

I really like this place and am so glad it still exists as an LGBT+ establishment in SE London—it’s an important and valued part of the community. The venue itself is impressively large, offering plenty of space to enjoy, but it’s a shame that it’s not busier when I do visit.

They put on some fantastic drag shows, which are always entertaining and a real highlight of the venue. The drinks are reasonably priced too, which makes it a great option for a night out without breaking the bank.

One thing I’ve noticed is that there often seems to be far more staff than necessary, especially during quieter times. While it’s nice to see the team ready to serve, it does make the space feel a bit underutilized.

I really wish the marketing for this place were stronger. It has so much potential to become the go-to destination for locals. Too often, people from SE London travel all the way to Central London for a night out, only to complain about the lack of options closer to home. This venue could easily fill that gap with the right promotion and visibility.

It’s a gem that deserves more recognition, and I hope more people start to discover and appreciate it for...

I have been coming to this establishment for over a decade now. Recently the pub has been refurbished and opened up, making more use of available space.

Great atmosphere, crowd ranges from all ages at the weekend and I would describe them as a mix of locals and students.

Obviously this is a gay venue, but all are welcome as long as LGBT friendly.

Staff are quite friendly and welcoming.

Caberet every weekend (Friday - Sun) followed by DJ until fairly late on Fridays and Saturdays.

Drinks can be pricey sometimes, but then again it is London! I believe there are a range of drinks offers which can offset the prices.

All in all, a great enjoyable night out. I usually go as part of a group at the weekends and we always have an excellent night in a comfortable, welcoming atmosphere.

It's a shame because the food was good and the lady serving was great. The £85 fine that came through the door was good too.... We had a booking for 9 for 6:30 and me and another were running late so didn't get there till 7:30. Quickly read the top of the sign which said something like for pub users only, thought great I can park here and went in.

So fast forward to getting the fine I lodged an appeal but as we had a tab and I paid in cash didn't get a receipt or have a bank statement to prove was there. Thought ok, I'll ring the pub and the guy who answered basically said there's 4 signs and you should have read them can't and won't help. That's fine it's my fault I didn't read the whole sign due to running late but the attitude from the guy was by far anything helpful.

Will not be going back there which truly is a shame and the other 7 people...
