I promised the owner a review and here it is. My wife, son, and I researched some of the best fish and chip restaurants in London before our trip about a week and a half ago. This restaurant came up in a Youtube review and was heralded as having top quality fish and was even voted #1 restaurant in all of the city. Once in London, we traveled from Mayfair, sacrificing a significant amount of sightseeing time. Needless to say, it was worth it! We each ordered a different fish; cod, haddock, and halibut. All three were great but I have to rank the Haddock as the best tasting, the other two very close behind in flavor and texture. My son and I ordered the large portions, but surprisingly, my wife's portion was almost as full. The thing I remember the most from the fish is the batter. It had a perfect crispiness and color to it. The tartar sauce was a great addition and honestly helped me to forget that I would have liked some malt vinegar on my fish as well. I guess the food tasted that good. The chips were nicely fried and not overly greasy. One of the things that really stood out was the service. Both of our waiters were extremely professional and polite. Nearing 8 p.m., we were happy to see the entire crew was still in such great spirits. I have to say it made our experience that much better. It's definitely a bit out from the center of the city, but we highly recommend you try it if you really love fish & chips. Huseyin, thanks to you and your crew for providing us with amazing dishes! -...

We had such an amazing time visiting The Golden Chippy! The experience started when my friend and I came into the establishment right before the rain started to get slightly serious. We were greeted by a very kind man who gave us the option to dine in their patio area (covered from the elements and equipped with a nice and toasty heater) or wait until one of the patrons was finished since they’d already been wrapping up. We opted for the former since we wanted to enjoy the fresh air and the warmth of the heater. Shortly after settling into our seats, the same person who greeted us provided us with the menu. Once decided, we were able to place our order and didn’t wait too long for the food to arrive. Prior to enjoying the meal, a special hot sauce was suggested to us and I couldn’t say no to a good hot sauce! And let me tell me you.. It did NOT disappoint! In fact, a good mix of the hot sauce with the house made tartar sauce and a dash of the vinegar created the perfect balance of salty, spicy and sweet flavors beautifully complimenting the fried Cod we ordered. The chips paired with a combo of ketchup and a sprinkle of freshly grounded pepper created an addictive side in addition to the crisp salad with a yummy vinaigrette dressing. We ate every last bite with no crumbs to spare. I just want to give a special shout out to the staff as they were very accommodating and hospitable. Would definitely visit again on a future...

Golden Chippy is an absolute must-visit for fish and chips lovers! The customer service here is top-notch—friendly, welcoming, and attentive, making the experience even more enjoyable.

Now, let’s talk about the food—just wow! The fish (I got haddock) is perfectly battered, golden, and crispy on the outside, while the inside remains incredibly tender and flaky. The chips are thick-cut, lightly crispy on the outside, and soft inside, offering the perfect balance of texture. The fresh salad adds a refreshing touch, making the meal feel light yet satisfying.

One standout is their homemade tartar sauce—it’s absolutely delicious! Creamy, tangy, and perfectly seasoned, it complements the fish beautifully, taking each bite to the next level.

I had a lot of tartar sauce left over, so I decided to order the shrimp scampi, but I wasn’t impressed at all—only because they use small pieces of shrimp. It looks like they cut one whole shrimp into tiny pieces, coat them in heavy dough, and then count that as “one” shrimp. If they had used colossal shrimp, it would’ve been a game-changer. I was really let down by the shrimp.

Every element on the fish and chips plate was cooked to perfection, and the flavors were spot on. If you’re looking for a fantastic fish and chips experience, Golden Chippy is the place to be. The next time I’m in the area, I’m definitely stopping by again.

P.S. the curry sauce is OK!
