The Junk Shop — Local services in London

Not sure who the guy who’s repairing the car outside, but I made a very reasonable offer on a pack of torn maps. He said I was wasting his time, even though I pointed out the maps written on them said £0.20 each, but they wanted £3 each instead.

I offered €20-30 for the entire lot, but they insisted on going through each one on the sidewalk one by one, which is just not worth the time.

Happy to have done a deal, but considering that’s close to £4-5 for new undamaged maps it’s much too high. Go down to the nearby market and get some quality maps from the Rare Curios and Books guy, much more professional and much less a hazard if digging through isn’t your thing.

The real reason for the 1 star is the guy repairing the car outside, real rude guy and also spilled gas on me. In all honesty, probably a fire hazard to bring a bucket of gas through such a crowded space.

For Americans, think of this as an estate sale clean out where nothing is organized. It’s a fun experience, but the rude friend of the staff just ruined the experience (with a subtle hint about my race...

I love this antique shop and it's excellent for picking up random bits and bobs to become coffee table talking points or shelf-filling curios. I've bought a few antique cameras here and very nearly bought an old ITN field phone used by journalists to phone in stories. It's a treasure trove in here and excellent if you want some authentic decor for your home.

The staff can be a bit gruff and once or twice they've been smoking in the shop while I've been in there which is off-putting, but focus on the antiques on offer and you'll be fine :-) Despite the staff, I heartily recommend this place if you're visiting Greenwich or if you really need something unique for your hip...

This shop is a really hidden gem! Full of all shorts of items for the home from all over the world from various periods in history and all and fantastic prices, much better value than greenwich market On my many visits to this shop I've picked up two antique chest of drawers, one of which was partly made of from a 1900s tea chest! I've also picked up a few biscuit tins and a model ship. The staff there are great too, one of the gentlemen who work there gave me some great advice and free wax to get my furniture looking it's best. Visit this shop as soon as you can, it will greatly...
