Four of us met for dinner here last night (first visit) and were all really impressed. The mezze starter was very interesting (I'm personally not that keen on salad options but all four varieties of the mezze were really tasty and the accompanying cheese bread was delicious as well). We then had 2 x Qotnis Lobio Rachulad which was very tasty, a wonderfully flavoured bean stew with some pickled vegetables and bread on the side and a melt in the mouth slice of pork (belly I think) soaking in it brought a brilliant smokey flavour. The others had Tabaka (perfectly roast poussin with an amazing walnut sauce) and Mtsvadi which was also reported to be very tasty. Washed down with first a delicious bottle of "dry" red (can't recall the name specifically but it was at the bottom of the short list and really tasty) and then a bottle of dry white (as the red had run out unfortunately so no second bottle!) recommended by the waitress that was very nice as well. All in all a great meal, very interesting and delicious food and wine and a lovely setting with great service. We'll be back to try more of the menu. (Apologies for no photos we got stuck in before I managed...
Read moreThe food was horrific. I’m Polish and I live in Warsaw where we have A LOT of Georgian restaurant that I visit regularly. First of all, the price-quality ratio is totally outrageous. £18 for a Khachapuri that resembled low quality langosh is just outrageous even for London. Secondly, we came to try Chinkali with broth and meat only to be told there are non available (?!). I thought it’s a staple? Service was terrible, the waitress disappeared as soon as we got food (did I mention we were the only guests in the restaurant?) and the only instance that got her off the phone was me getting up to use the loo, I suppose to make sure we don’t walk out without paying the bill. She even had audacity to put “service charge” on the bill…. Not to mention that soft drinks and beer have no pricing on the menu and I only found out when paying that I was charged £7 for mediocre draft. Honestly, avoid, avoid and don’t bother. There is a lovely Indian place just 10 min walk toward Balham (Bombay Bicycle Chef) where you will be treated as a guest is supposed to and on top of that you will get some...
Read moreI have visited this restaurant three times now, first just for a coffee, then for breakfast, and today again for a coffee. Unfortunately, today’s experience was a bit uncomfortable.
A lady came out from the kitchen to prepare my coffee, which I ordered as a cortado. However, what she brought was essentially a latte served in a large glass. When she brought it to the table, I mentioned that I had ordered a cortado, to which she abruptly replied, “THIS IS A CORTADO.” I apologised and politely explained what a cortado actually is – I even Googled it to show her. She then responded, “This is the way we make cortado,” which I found quite rude and, frankly, not very professional. If you are working making coffee and you don’t know what coffee the client is asking for. Just ask politely what true customer wants is very simple. The last 2 times I was there, I was serve by a young boy he was very professional and nice. The first time I went there he wasn’t sure what cortado was but he asked me and he made it really nice. I will come back only when I see...
