I went there to meet a friend for something to eat and a drink. You know what to expect from a Wetherspoons, and I have been to a few, however I have been to others that may not have looked better, but in terms of atmosphere feel more welcoming. It was the day that it was unexpectedly warm, and as such, the bar was fuller than we expected. As a venue, they need to rework the layout, because between the first set of tables and bar, the queue for the drinks blocked off any easy way for new visitors to come in through the entrance. There was no organisation of the lines, and relied on the good attitude of waiting people. There was no consistent order of which bar staff was focusing on which queue, luckily no-one really kicked-off. But there was enough of a distracting incident, as staff were trying to deal with a customer who had abused a member of staff. However there seemed to be some internal staff conflict around the resolution, which proved to take away the attention of the staff, from the queuing customers. I finally managed to order my food and drink , but could not tell the table number, so had to make a guess, using deductive reasoning. The food eventually arrived, and we had to cobble the staff member, as she could not tell the table number either. I must say that the evidence of the impact of cost of living is rife everywhere, as the 'seasoned chips' that costs nearly double the price of normal chips, totally missed the mark in terms of my expectation. I compared it to my friends plate who had ordered a fajita and chips, and I only had slightly more in quantity, and also there was barely any distinctive 'seasoning' as I refused to use any condiments in case I lost my seat and I wanted to get my seasonings worth! I was really looking forward to this, but totally disappointed 🙁. All in all, it was a nice venue, I have felt better atmospheres in different Wetherspoons, you could definitely see and feel the difference between experienced and less experienced staff, as for the food, my friend was cool with hers, but for me, you can never go wrong with a plate if chips, and if I went by this experience alone - these ones were nothing to...
Read moreI’ve been there with my girlfriend and we won’t go back anymore. Since we were both on the bar waiting to order 3 people just came in front of us to order without having a table even if we already told them to wait they’re turn. The bar lady saw it and she didn’t say anything. After that i ordered fish and cips and my girlfriend ordered a pizza. We just sit outside on the terrace at table 45. A man next to us ordered as well a fish and cips . He get it and then the waiter come with another plate of fish and cips went straight to that man saying no no no , he took away the plate , after the men already put on the plate salt, pepper , the lemon on the fish and mayo on the plate and giving to me. I was shoked . Then i finished eating and my girlfriend pizza still didn’t came. After mu girlfriend just went to see what happened and the lady who was in charge just start shouting at her saying that they run out of tomatoes sauce. My girlfriend told them that she would like panini. They didn’t told her nothing. She waited as well 45 min and after that we went both at the bar to see whats wrong. The bar lady smiling she told us that there’s no bread for panini. I mean after more than 1 hour pf waiting for food you didn’t tell us nothing not even advising having all this problems. The lady from the bar she was quiet rude shouting that she is under staff. I mean me and my girlfriend we both worked hospitality for more than 10 years we both know how it is, but at least you as a duty manager advise your staff that you run out of things or at least block the items on the till. What can i say after all. Worse service and worse management. I don’t...
Read moreAlways come here as a local with friends and family, never had issues. Today I came for easter sunday lunch with my elderly mum, after making an initial order, my mum quickly asked after retrieving our table number if it was possible to change the orange juice to apple juice nicely, mere seconds after making the order. The 'manager' - a woman, managed to have a meltdown over this and rudely told my mother she is not going serve her. She then added that she would tell all of her staff not to serve her...for no reason. This is completely uncalled for disgusting behaviour for a so called manager/whatever title she had for running the bar. Leave your personal issues problmatic mood out from your workplace and stop taking it out on kind people. I seriously recommend fixing up, either get rid of that staff member, or train her up properly to just be a decent human being. The place was practically empty too so it was not busy or a stressful atmosphere to have had a meltdown over. I highly suspect the manager was discriminatory against my mum. And such a pointless display and show of flexing authority or power of position. Over....a glass of juice. Shame on you. My mum kindly apologised (for absolutely nothing, and shouldnt have had to) just to defuse her temper and pay and receive our food. Date of visit: Sunday 20th April...
