I love my burgers and I have been to alot of chain and independent restaurant's, I've just moved job and boom! A new burger restaurant I've never heard of and right on my door step, winner winner! I went in and was greeted with the worst customer service from a blond haired lady that just didn't seem to care about the people who where paying Bleeker to pay her, I was looking at the menu away from the counter, not a particularly busy day, 2 people waiting for their burgers and no queue at the time, when I see the lady in question staring at me expecting and answer.
I looked at her and was puzzled, her response was 'are you going to order or not?' I replied with 'I'm just looking at your menu' I received a blunt 'fine then' I would have walked out then and there but it was about 14:30 and I was hungry, I looked at the burgers and the prices, it's London so I guess the prices seemed a tad high but for the location I was ok with it if the burger was good. I stepped up and ordered a double bacon cheese for my self and a bacon cheese for my colleague that was with me, I asked for no fries and no drink on both expecting this burger to be huge! My colleague asked for onions, the hostess looked at him and said in a sarcastic manor, 'they ALL come with onions' he replied with 'er.. ok well we have never been here before' to which he got no response. I requested if the burgers come with lettuce, apparently they don't so I asked if I could have some, she agreed and we waited for our order.
Time ticked by and she yelled to grab my attention, 'your food has been ready!' 'ok, I didn't know what to do as I didn't get a receipt or anything' I said 'what happened to the buzzer I gave you?!' she asked angrily, 'I was never given one' I said, she didn't bother saying anything else and walked away. One of the nice cooks passed me a brown paper bag with the burgers inside, I was looking foward to this so we sat down an opened then bag expecting 2 and at least 1 large burger.
With the bag open on the table we get out the burgers and I unwrap mine as it was slightly bigger than the other one, I look at it and think it's very small for the price I paid... I open up the top and see 1 lettuce leaf sitting on the top, 1 not a bunch or shredded I mean 1 leaf from the outside of a lettuce, really?! I mean come on, for 11 quid you could at least but a little bit more inside? Anyway I take a bite and the over whelming feeling of averageness washed over me, the burgers where cooked medium, that's fine the cheese, well there just wasn't enough for a bacon cheese burger, and they had either over salted it or the bacon was unbelievably salty. The patty's where thin and not like other restaurants I've been too I finished my burger and my stomach was still rumbling wanting more.
I asked my colleague what he thought and his thoughts where the same and he isn't even a burger fan he was just hungry! For £11 quid and £7/8 quid for the other burger that's £18/19 in total we had an underwhelming experience, the service was awful the burgers where poor, I cannot judge the sides as I had none however the service was fast I'll give them that, even if I was never given a buzzer.
Overall I won't be eating there again, price hiked, below par burgers and shoddy service, if you want a burger and are in London visit Dirty Bones, Meat Liquor, Five Guys, Patty and Bun and If you ever go to Southampton visit 7Bone all of them fantastic and highly rated by me (if that means anything), you can get so so much more for £19 quid from them than you will ever at...
Read moreI visited Bleecker Burger in the Bloomberg Arcade, and while the food was undeniably delicious, I left feeling like it didn’t quite live up to the price tag. Maybe it’s just a london thing. Don’t get me wrong, the burgers were fantastic. I had the double cheeseburger, and it was everything you’d want in a great burger: juicy, perfectly cooked patties, melted cheese, and a flavorful, well-balanced combination of ingredients. It’s clear they know how to do burgers right but the burger wasn’t worth the money.
For the price, it felt like you should be getting more. The double cheeseburger alone wasn’t that pricey compared to other burger places, but I feel like other burger places give you more for your money.
Maybe the “higher cost” is because it’s located in the Bloomberg Arcade, or like I’ve said maybe it’s just a london thing, but it still feels a bit steep when you’re paying nearly £15 for a regular McDonalds looking burger.
The location itself is decent, though it does get incredibly busy (Which is a super good sign). We did experience longer waiting times, and finding somewhere to sit was a bit of a challenge. The seating area isn’t very large, and with so many people around, it can feel a little hectic. I’d recommend going at an off-peak time (either pre- or post-lunch rush) or even late in the evening if you want a better chance at grabbing a seat.
Alternatively, it’s probably best for takeaway if you’re in a hurry or don’t want to deal with the crowds.
All that said, I’d still consider Bleecker Burger a good spot for a “fancy...
Read moreThey used to be in my opinion and to my taste one of the best burgers in town, however, since local councils forbid selling burgers (or similar) medium rare, and require meat to be "cooked through" (held at 70C for 3 minutes or 75 for 30s) they are now - in my opinion - rather ordinary.
I used to travel 10 miles each way to have their burgers, now they are not worth having purely because each bite reminds me of how good they used to be.
I have spoken to each of the Spitalfields and Victoria kiosk managers by phone with a request to serve me a burger medium rare and offered to provide a signed disclaimer stating the choice is mine, the responsibility is mine and thereby absolving them of any liability, they flatly refused and told me it is illegal - which is manifestly untrue, it's not against any law of the land. What is true is that councils will not give them a licence to trade unless they comply with the stupid restriction, a restriction which denies me the right to choose how I want to eat my food. My choice, my responsibility, apparently I have no agency of my own and need council morons to protect me from myself. Freedom of choice and personal responsibility anyone?
Do yourself a favour, if you relish medium rare burgers and find fully cooked meat (in particular burgers) frankly a sin, avoid any commercial burger outlet in London and...
