We had a bit of an unusual experience. I came to Jamm Hubb a few weeks ago and had some drinks, we were overcharged for the wine which I noticed when I compared the menu to the receipt, the owner apologised and instead of refunding, said he would look after us next time we came, fair enough. We came again today for drinks and dinner, we both had the steak, which unfortunately was very unevenly cooked and 1/3 of it was very undercooked. I let the owner know about this once we were finished, but was not looking for anything in return. He the proceeded the go and get the chef to come to our table, a very awkward and uncomfortable experience for us both. The chef then proceeded to blame the butcher saying it was an uneven cut. Then when it came to the bill, I had mentioned our previous overpayment, and the owner decided to refund us £1.86 on the £100 bill. I would have preferred he just refunded us immediately when he overcharged us, as opposed to the false pretence of being “looked after” and then just refunding the amount on the bill anyway. The whole experience was relatively underwhelming and unusual. Positives are that everyone is very friendly, and the atmosphere in the restaurant is great, with it being decorated exceptionally well. Plus the homemade béarnaise sauce was fantastic, and the correctly cooked parts of the...
Read moreWe were really excited to try out a new local restaurant. The food was overpriced for what it was but perfectly fine and was made up for by the nice environment and friendly waiting staff. Unfortunately, the manager's behaviour ruined it all.
Two women sitting next to us weren't happy with the quality of the food and very politely expressed as much. The manager came over under the pretense of "listening to their feedback" but was dismissive, constantly talked over them and dodged all of their questions. I didn't really think much of it until the end of the night when things suddenly escalated and the manager became outright rude, aggressive and completely inappropriate towards the women, shouting at them to leave and basically accusing them of making a fuss just so they could get a free meal (they really weren't). I told the manager that his behaviour towards the women was completely inappropriate but by that point he was in a foul mood and not receptive to any sort of comment.
I hate to leave a bad review, particularly for a new and small business like this one, but the manager/owner/whoever he was needs to learn that he can't behave like that. We certainly won't be going back and we've told our friends not...
Read moreI have never written a review before this, but felt I should. We were exited to visit Churchills for the first time. We arrived early doors at 5.30 and asked if they had a table for two. The place was empty apart from two tables in use, one being a large very loud group. I asked if we could sit in the window away from the noise and was told “no” by a quite unfriendly man who was behind the bar. He then said they were very busy and put us right by the noisy table and nextdoor to the only other couple eating in a very empty space. We stayed for 40 mins and the place was still empty. The food was uninteresting and disappointing, nothing like the menu you see here and I don’t think they could have cut the cheese any thinner if they tried. The service was ok. Such a shame as I know it’s not been open that long. We live locally and we WONT BE GOING BACK or...
