London Double TroubleLondon Double Trouble
**April 22 updated review and added photos** Just been here again, this time inside the restaurant. Another excellent experience, as having a table at the back with a few family members, starting with a share of the flatbreads, sea salt and rosemary (delightful), followed by roast duck, beef burger, and veal and classic fish and chips. All were very happy! *************** Just look at this photo! It says it all
.One of the best Sunday Roasts we’ve had in ages. Situated in the quirky West Dulwich area, the Rosendale Pub is the perfect place to spend your Sunday afternoon. The atmosphere was lovely both inside and out, and the staff were extremely welcoming, especially our waiter, William, who was helpful, smiley, and friendly - precisely what you need after lockdown. The quality of the food was spot on and the portion; look at the towering Yorkshire pudding. The pub is both family and animal friendly as we saw lots of bowls of water scattered around for the dogs. The pub is located on the corner of Rosendale Road and is just a 5-minute walk from West Dulwich train station. We sat outside in the garden, which was spacious and comfortable. Inside was warm and friendly, full of both couples of all ages and families. For me, this pub ticks all the boxes, food was tasty; staff were friendly, suitable for all, children close, animal-friendly and not too tricky to get to, plus free and easy parking if you’re driving

Having always had a great experience eating and drinking at The Rosendale, we decided to hold our wedding reception for 80 people there, as well as have 20 of our closest family and friends join us the evening before for food and drinks. It’s a great pub at the best of times but the whole team really excel at hosting wedding parties and our experience from the point of booking, to the day of, was fantastic. Oscar, who helped us organise everything, gave us as much of his time as we needed to formulate and confirm plans as well as food and drink choices. He provided sound advice and always listened intently to understand exactly what we wanted with a proactive, can-do attitude throughout the process (e.g. a friend wanted to surprise us with a 10 person choir on the terrace and despite a few days notice prior to the wedding, this was no trouble for the Rosendale team). Many of our guests commented on how great the food was (we had a 2 course sit down lunch followed by pizzas in the evening) and how slick the service was. As a result of all of our experiences, we would highly recommended The Rosendale both as a place to eat and drink as well as host a wedding party and we couldn’t be more grateful for the ease with which Oscar and the team made organising our big day and accommodating last minute food changes and special requests. A big heartfelt thank you!

The staff were absolutely top tier—friendly, professional, and attentive throughout. Customer service was spot on, making us feel genuinely welcome from the moment we arrived. The pub itself has a charming, traditional style with tasteful gastro elements that elevate the atmosphere without losing its cosy appeal. A perfect blend of comfort and quality! The food was really good, fish and chips and it did not disappoint. Rocked up on their quiz night gave it a good go. Great fun. I would definitely recommend because it was really friendly experience we had. Here’s your revised review with improved grammar, flow, and warmth—while keeping your original voice intact: A truly lovely pub experience! Writing this on our one month anniversary of having our GORGEOUS wedding here at The Rosendale! What. An. Absolute. Dream. If you are considering this quirky cute pub for your wedding – we absolutely 100% recommend. 10/10 – you are in extremely good hands. Oscar managed our day – a wedding knight in shining armour for sure- we will sing your praises forever more.

We saw a few pubs before - not one came close to the professionalism of The Rosendale. The food in general is lovely, I recommend having a lunch here just to taste the food if you are unsure. When we told the staff we were casually looking at the Rosendale for our wedding venue when having a Sunday lunch – they showed us upstairs and sent someone to help us answer any questions – this was a really good sign!

I think wedding aside – this pub really does have wonderful staff. They are smiley, friendly, kind, helpful and genuinely take pride in what they do. This really did feel like the missing piece of the puzzle when we looked at other wedding venues. On the actual day – they surpassed all expectations – we have had many compliments from our wedding guests on how lovely the staff were and how accommodating. Every guest said they felt so special and looked after – as a bride – this is music to my ears.

My glass of prosecco was always topped up, eldery guests were especially looked after - as soon as Oscar saw me arrive and I was on my own he asked me “who do you want with you right now” and got me a drink and promptly sought out my sister. It was the small things like this – which honestly make all the difference on a day you have been planning for over a year. We both feel lucky and grateful to the team for genuinely the most beautiful day of our lives.

The communication into the lead up to the wedding was brilliant – we always knew what was going on and they definitely run a tight ship. Sidenote, the wedding PDF answers so many questions – I can’t tell you how many times I clicked it- bare this in mind with the venue you choose – you want them to have a document like this. I remember querying something about the room dimensions and this being added to the PDF afterwards– the follow through is there from the team.

Very honest staff regarding budget for alcohol, when thealcohol wasn’t drunk downstairs – it followed the party upstairs and vice verse. They added our names onto a special board which we had no idea about, this was a lovely cute touch. 80 to eat on the round tables was a bit of a squeeze – but for the dance floor and garden moments – this felt absolutely fine. Also the way they run the day – ceremony, garden interval, wedding lunch, garden interval, reception – this WORKS!

You can do it all in one wedding venue – I cannot tell you how many guests loved that there were no coaches, no buses, no faff – it was brilliant!! These garden moments really broke up the day too – it was such a cool, easy- going, relaxed and fun vibe for the day.

Decorations wise, we went pretty heavy on them – staff spent 4 hours the day before putting up our tassles on the ceiling and accommodated this for us – we are still so grateful! I loved how our tables were set up and how everything looked – there is an artistic eye here. There is care, delicacy and intention – this was duly noted by everyone. The food was complimented by all, portions were very generous – we chose lamb and veggie risotto. The wood fire oven pizzas are a must – they are SO tasty!

Can’t truly thank the staff enough, especially Oscar who was an absolute diamond – would recommend anyone to choose The Rosendale for their special...

The food is great but we all go for the whole experience ? Yes we do unfortunately after 3 visits I feel it's important to write this not so positive review simple on the management . Visit 1. Sunday lunch chicken full of bones. Bill placed on table as they had not told us table rebooked. Spent over ÂŁ150 for two..but we were ordered off table by waitress instructed by manager. Visit 2. Told staff about bone problem with chicken..please don't let it happen again..same problem. Told general manager ..her response to our concerns I quote.. if the bones were a problem why did you order again ..and second comment that's the way we do things here....my comment to her if that's how you do things a disclaimer with a clear warning is appropriate. Visit 3.(I don't give up) As I say great food. Came with two friends they have no bad experience and we spend over ÂŁ200 on first bill..they enjoyed food..then of course another problem..the 2nd bill showed double espressos.. we had singles ..manager told us we don't have a single option?? Ten mins later waitress comes to our table ..this table is booked ..I'm angry at this stage.. so not willing to give up table to school mums and dads letting the kids run amuck With a purchase of one pizza per 4 and a glass of wine! We stayed though we felt like we were in a school yard. ..love kids and dogs but the service in this establishment need to face they are a pub and not a Michelin star...well sorry if you were the stars would...
