Awful. This was my first visit to this branch of Wetherspoons since it opened, and for a midweek evening the atmosphere was raucous and the service was negligent. The security man seemed to be over-intrusive, squeezing in-between the tables all the way through the pub and back again every few minutes, but he did nothing to prevent large rowdy gangs of customers from noisily rearranging tables and chairs to suit their groups. They piled all the dirty plates onto spare tables, where they remained for a considerable time before being cleared away. I ordered my meal and a beer via the app, and the drink arrived within a few minutes. The beer I ordered was meant to be a pint but came with nearly an inch of foam. After I had consumed some of it, I noticed that the glass was marked "One Pint to Brim". Due to the short and wide style of the glass, when delivered the head was at least 10% of the drink. The size of the head on beer can be counted towards meeting the stated volume. However, it should not exceed 5% of the total volume - Weights and Measures Act 1985. I expected the food to take a while longer, as it seemed so busy, but fifty minutes later I saw meals being delivered to a couple who came in long after I had ordered, so I asked the server if she could check on mine. In less than two minutes, she reappeared with my fish and chips. I noticed that the mushy peas had dried into a cracked lump, so I asked her how long my meal had been sitting under the heat lamp waiting for service. She said she had no idea, but the kitchen had put ”some fresh chips" on the plate for me. I ate the food because I was very hungry by this time, but the fish had also suffered from its prolonged heat treatment and was completely dried to a crisp. The only palatable part of the meal was the meagre scattering of chips. If this is how the previously reliable standards of Wetherspoons have declined (with bad service, bad food and short-measured drinks) that will most likely have been my last ever visit... not just to that branch, but to any of the chain, such is the damage to the brand caused by that experience.

First time dining in this venue, and thought I'd see what the fuss is all about. We popped in during lunch time. We opted for a children's jacket potato option meal and a small steak 🥩 option for my daughter. Unfortunately hers was quite dry and chewy and my son's jacket potato was a-bit bland, hardly any salt or butter to make it more tasty. We also ordered a steak 🥩 each but mine came out wrong. They forgot my salad and brought me chips and then took my plate back to bring it out with salad. I was really hungry so I just digged in because well I was not in the mood to complain really. Anyway my steak was also very chewy and bland and I just couldn't be bothered to complain after all the time we had waited for the food to arrive since they were busy and it was a weekend. They had put one cold mushroom on the side and one hard tomato as part of the dish which was not very tasty nor fresh. I'm glad at least my partners steak came out right. I wouldn't be rushing back there anytime soon to be fair but I think attention to detail is important as well as the taste for the price. Even if it's a pub there should still be a standard set for each and every customer! Maybe I would grab a drink next time I pass by since they have some good offers on those but I wouldn't dine there again.

An updated review of another Wetherspoons I have been to before. A reasonable sized branch a very short walk from Clapham Junction Railway Station. Now the only Wetherspoons in the area, since the once nearby 'The Asparagus' in Battersea was closed. The pub was fairly busy when I arrived, managed to find a table OK and ordered through app with no issues. A reasonable selection of beer was on. For which I ordered a pint of Twickenham Orange Zeus 4.8%, beer to go with my meal of a Gourmet BBQ Beef Burger. Total cost = £12.17. Beer arrived in good time, a few minutes after ordering and was in good condition. Food arrived in around eight minutes and looked well prepared and cooked. No issues with taste or quality. A handy, convenient and fairly cheapish stopping point if you are passing through on the train. Or if you live locally. My only gripe in general is Spoons is a bit thin on the ground in this area. I strongly feel a branch is needed in nearby Wandsworth (which once had two Wetherspoons pubs), plus also Clapham High St, which is a fair distance from Clapham Junction. Apart from that, not a bad place to stop off at. It has certainly improved since it first opened a couple of years ago, when beer and service quality was appalling.

I been coming in to the pub on 4 day’s in a row now I’m back from holiday. I don’t know what is going on with the management/ whoever makes up the rota. I normally come in between 17:30hrs to 19:00hrs. The unfortunate problem is that to me the staff are over worked and understaffed. This is leading to problems trying to get served at the bar, I don’t expect to be waiting 5 minutes to 15 minutes to get a simple drink. I only drink Guinness and i know that will take a while to settle. In the meantime, I can see your staff are overwhelmed with a lack of planning management/people on shift. This is leading to customers complaining to your poor staff ( trying to do their best ) I would expect a company like yours to have in place something like a Person on call ( I don’t expect this person on call to have a Family or other commitments outside of work ) I understand that some people will be happy to come in and short notice to help/ get extra pay. ( Well, how about something radical Calling whoever has not dealt with the rotor in a first place a supervisor/Manager, whoever it is that deals with staffing issues And make them work for the same money as a normal staff member who is bearing the brunt of the customer’s frustration! I’m sorry for saying this but whoever has been tasked with rotor in this particular Wetherspoon’s needs to be pulled into the office and have a word...
