This is not a British pub, despite its name. It's a hotel bar. It is linked to the largest hotel in London (the Royal National) and therefore caters for hordes of tourists. Coach-loads, in fact. Many of whom are on school trips (the hotel is a 'budget hotel'). It's expensive, utilitarian and not very clean. Going to the toilets (for what they are; no cubicles in the gents and the disabled was blocked with s*it) is a mission past beer-barrels and whatnot. They've got plenty of staff (it's table service - but go up to the bar as a normal person would and the service is quicker!) but they all seem more interested in gossiping to each other than customer service. On the plus-side (yes, there is one) there is a decently-sized outside seating space in the courtyard of the hotel. There are screens (TV and sports). There a decent selection of drinks but, as I said, expensive for what it is. I've not tried the food, but I suspect it's normal pub fare. The doors are promptly locked before 11pm (when it closes), even though some of our party were still inside (using the toilets before leaving), leading to an unnecessary faff with keys to let them back out.

It's an odd place. And there are plenty of (much) better pubs in the area (that's another plus: the location) where...

Absolutely disgusting management! Myself and a friend went for quiet drinks here last night. My friend went to the bathroom and on her way back was cornered by 4 men and when she told them to leave her alone they proceeded to grab her and try to touch her up. After telling management this had happened, they did nothing, one person was sent to look for them and rolled their eyes looking like it was too much hard work/trouble for them to deal with! A young female had just been nearly assaulted and they couldn't careless, and when we asked to look on the CCTV to identify the men we was told "no" and waved off as if we didn't matter! Granted it isn't the pubs fault that these disgusting men were in there but it is their fault they let them stay and did nothing about it!! Im sure it would of been a difference story if it was a young female close to them this happened to! I dont even want to give them a star but i have to to be able to post this so please ignore the 1 star rating as ideally they...

Close to our hotel so we stopped in. I think we made a mistake in that it says “pub” in their name and I ordered the sirloin and my wife the Risotto. Well major disappointment. The risotto is basically watered down rice lacking character and flavor and the sirloin steak was 35% gristle with little flavor. Perhaps because we are from Texas and expect a lot from a steak this might not be fair but for the money it was disappointing to say the least. However the gentleman’s burger next to us looked fantastic. I just believe we really picked the wrong food at this location. I would strongly suggest ordering the burgers here. They look fantastic Thankfully they had Beaverton Neck Oil. I strongly recommend this IPA smooth and amazing flavor. Back to the pub…atmosphere is nice. Plenty of TVs to watch matches Just don’t expect too much from the steak. In Texas we would not serve this to our pets....

The food was great, i had fish and chips and my daughter had the beef burger, it was great and very clean. When we were there, it wasn't busy at all. The clients were chatting and eating meaning that they were already served. We sat down and the server gave us the menu, we sat there for a good 10 minutes and he never came back to our table, so I had to go and order and paid right away, being from the US I thought it was normal, as we were eating, other patrons came and sat next to us, the same server came to their table and TOOK there order 😂. My daughter noticed and laughed, mind you we are black and they are white. But I wouldn't say it was racism, maybe they just didn't think that we could afford to eat there. But again the food was awesome, so we were satisfied. We're used to this type of thing so it wasn't a big deal.

This is a great place to stop by and have a quick meal. The risotto was great. However, this place isn't super accessible and welcoming. Staff were friendly, but we were expected to order our drinks and food at the bar, card only, without a staff member telling us this is the case. Drinks are self-service, and you have to pay the whole bill immediately. I feel like this takes away from the dining experience. I wouldn't have an issue with it if I were visiting just to drink, but when dining in, I would be expecting to pay the bill after and having service at the table.
